Did OC training yesterday in the academy. Holy crap! Saber Red aint no joke! Definitely not fun. Military CS gas has nothing on OC. With CS, 5 minutes after leaving the contaminated area everything is fine. An hour later the OC still burns. Even a day later my eyes are still red and sore. Looking forward now to Taser day! ![]() |

Tasers are the best thing for us since, well, ever. Point a gun at someone and they'll say "F-you" ... Point a Taser at someone, and they can't give up fast enough. Unless they're insane, in which case, they can ride the bull. Don't opt to take the ride if you can help it. It's not fun, and no, you don't have to "experience it for yourself so you'll know what the bad guy feels". That's a crock. |
| Hey, don't feel bad. When I was doing security a few years back, Ohio required us to take a full hit with the stuff we would be carrying to certify. What did my fly by night security employer issue me? Fox. Yeah, the humane thing to do versus an assailant would have been the sidearm, I can still faintly smell that stuff from time to time, I know it's just in my head, but it doesn't make me wanna gag any less. |
yeah, I mean you carry a gun and a baton.. they dont shoot you or beat you "so you'll know what the bad guy feels" i hope |
I think it should be manditory to "take the ride". My son did both, and now has a pretty good idea of when to take his finger off the trigger, (Or when to keep it on) |
I've been "hosed" many times and I must say that it is no fun. The "stream of compliance" is something to be reckoned with. Unless you have a 5 gallon bucket of water, or a running tap that you can bury your face in for at least 45 minutes, I suggest that you do not "try this at home." Glad that you survived it, Bro. |

When you underwent the training did the trainers mention the percent of the gen pop who are not effected by capsaicin? By the way, carry a bottle of Maalox in the cruiser for quick relief of that shit incase of an accidental douching. It works - |
It's like 3-5%. Nobody in our class was unaffected. Although I wonder how much less effective it would be after knocking off a fifth of bourbon beforehand. Not that I should ever expect to get dispatched to some dombat where somebody is tanked up on booze and meth. Nah, not in Hooterville. A couple guys brought some Maalox. Don't know if it helped or not, but after it dried up it looked like they had man-seed splattered all over them.
