So, I get off work. Life's great. I'm getting hit on by a totally cutie Lithuanian girl (which is awesome), she's a Blackjack dealer at the casino. God, I hope she's fishing for a Green Card, but I digress.

I'm havin' a great day. I get off the freeway onto Pyramid Way, the highway that leads to my house. I'm drivin' along, singing along to whatever's playing on the iPod. Life's great.

All of a sudden, I notice brake lights in front of me. I hear the pickup truck directly in front's tires squeal. Shit, shit shit! I slam down on my brakes, locking my front tires solid. My head turns to the left, seeing if I can try to dodge into the other lane. No dice, traffic in the No.1 lane is still moving.

Squealing of rubber on blacktop, that smell hitting my nose like a fist.

The sound of metal-on-metal fills the air, the seatbelt instinctively tightens across my collar as if it were an anaconda and I were a little white mouse.

Glass tinkles on the blacktop, making a cacophony like a toddler's first xylophone.

Good fucking times.

So, some asshole with Canadian plates (I didn't get a look) decides that he should just come to a full fucking stop on a suburban highway whose posted speed limit is 45MPH. The pickup truck directly in front of me was able to screech to a stop a whore's cunthair from the other guy's bumper. I wasn't so lucky. Antilock discs beat worn out drums ten times out of ten.

As soon as he heard the rending of steel and the shattering of glass, the cocksmoke that caused the fucking accident stomped down on his gas and burned rubber out of the scene!

What a fucking dick!

So, now my car is totally fucking trashed and I have an At-Fault on my goddamned record!

This shit sucks, dudes.

Situational awareness, my code White friend.

JK, hopefully you weren't hurt.

This might not help, but i'd contact a local attorney about getting those points off of your record. I believe insurance companies base their rates on the demerit/point system found in DMV records, so having 0 points would be a plus. You are required to report accidents, so presumably they will know of an accident despite your DMV records, but hey, it can't hurt.

It looks like you screeched them front tires so hard, all the tread melted, or are they just bald??

My throat's sore from where the dang seatbelt choked me out.

There were no injuries, so neither party bothered calling Sparks PD. We both had a long discussion with our insurance carriers. I'm at-fault, which sucks balls, because that means that my monthly goes up through the roof now.

Man that sucks. Good thing you guys worked it out, you avoided the added expense of a serious ticket that way.

I am glad you are okay, Bro.

One question though: Why are you driving a car with bad brakes to begin with?

No offense, just askin'.

Be Safe.

Get an attorney.

I just did an Attorney Session for my (former) secretary. She rear-ended some idiot that locked up his brakes in front of her. She broke her leg (and was 8 mos. pregnant), but was legally "at fault."

She has to pay a fine, do driving school (online) but gets NO POINTS on her insurance.

It'd probably be worth it to get one of those traffic ticket lawyers to take care of you.

Glad you're okay.

I had a similar situation.  No injuries to me or the other guy, and no car damage to either of us.  To my disfortune, a trooper saw the rear ender and ticketed me.  Now, I'm having an attorney bud handle it to avoid the points.

It looks like it went unreported, so he might be in the clear.

I did a ticket in Reno for a friend's mother.  Those guys don't deal tickets like they do here, and the fines are usually alot higher.

Don't speed in cities like Goldfield or Hawthorne. YOu're talking $1k for fines!!!!!

I have seen Steve's car up close and let me tell ya, I can't see anything that wasn't there before.
Seriously, I am glad you are alright.
Look at the bright side,  you can legitimately hate Canadians now!

Thanks for the kind words, the guys at Hotel 23 are starting a collection for me. Haw.

Answerin' questions, in no particular order:

- Tires aren't bald, they go up to at least Lincoln's eyebrow.

- Brakes are fine, other party had ABS and I have plain old nonboosted hydraulic brakes.

- No police involvement, which means I don't need to retain an attourney. Good thing, too, because I'm still kind of totally completely brokeass.

- Carma. Lol.

- Yes, Lithuanian girls are trouble. But not as much as the Polish girls. I asked the cutie Polish girl if she'd like to watch Enemy at the Gates with me so we could both cheer when those Stukas strafe the riverboats.

(for a second date, I'll suggest we watch Red Dawn)

Maybe its Carma, Its just payback for being so mean.

Steve doesn't believe in any power higher than himself. Therefore Carma cannot lay it's stinkin' paws upon him.
It's the randomness of chaos!

Lithuanian girls are trouble!

That's no joke!!!

When I first moved here I went through a Yellow lightstarted to brake, realized I would end up midintersection and gunned it through.  Lt. Dangle was sitting right there at the intersection of Kietzke and Peckham and nailed me like a fat kid in dodgeball.  Got a ticket for "Duty to reduce speed and my insurance card had expired a week earlier...new card sent to old address and caught in the mail forwarding hell!

Luckily the insurance BS was easy to beat, although Lt Dangle told me to show up before my court date with proof to get it thrown out.  I must have pissed him off because the ladies at the window says they tell everyone that and all it does is waste their time and ours, as nothing cannot be done until you go to court, so on my "Arraignment Date" I throw on a suit and get ready to talk my way out of it.

I had to talk to the City Attorney and cut a deal with him in a room off the courtroom...if I wanted to fight it, I needed a lawyer and all this other bullshit like I'm going to turn state's evidence against the Gambino family.

He reduced the charge to "Failure to signal"  One point instead of the 3 that "duty to reduce" had.  I stood before the judge and because by this point I still looked like a productive law abiding citizen in a suit and not a methed-out trailer dweller like the rest of the losers in there....he waived the fine.

That one point vanished last year, but yeah...the dickhead insurance company raised my rates, when it was their fault that Dangle wrote me up.  (I usually get a pass with the USMC plates...and if I had my insurance card with me...I think this guy would have let me go).  Of course the other drivers in this area  constantly stopping for no reason and driving 10 miles under the posted limit never makes me want to take a bat to anyone's legs.

Glad to hear you're ok Steve...the assholes on pyramid make me want to choke the life out of them twice a day for their shitty-ass driving habits.

Thanks Mike. I don't even bother with Pyramid anymore. It's more worth my while to get off the freeway at McCarran, take McCarran to Baring to Sparks to Pyramid than it is to just exit the freeway at Pyramid.

My Jeep's stereo, while cool, does not allow for the plugging-in of my precious, precious iPod. I swear, CD-only? I can't even run an .mp3 CD? How September Tenth. That thing has to go.
