Does anyone here have the Embarq DSL for their computers? Like? Don't like? Better than Cox? I am getting so fed up with Cox and their outrageous pricing that that Embarq ad for $24.95 for life is really sounding good, but I don't want to waste my time swapping over to find out that Embarq sucks. Opinions please. Thanx |
Been using Embarq DSL for at least four years now.........no problems |

Thanks for the replies, Dave and nevadasun and Cazador. I have the top rating of Cox and the bill is $76 + change a month (also includes basic cable TV). Breakdown of that is : Cox Limited Basic = $10.91 and Cox Internet Service (HSI Premier with Powerboost) = $64.95. |
OMFG! You pay how much for internet?

I'm sick of Cox, too. The way they're always trying to stick it to me really rubs me raw. I finally gagged after they tried to shove their latest bigger and fuller package down my throat. I screwed up my courage, called them, and told them to go fuck themselves, as I was tired of being bent over a barrel by them. What are we talking about? |

I can only respond to the fact that my cable bill (expanded service with basic high speed) was running me 119.27 per month, now with Embarq and cable,my bill is 85.00 dollars per month and the Embarq high speed service performs just as good as Cox and I have had 0 issues with the service. And just to rant....FUCK YOU COX...I'm tired of your media blitz. |
HAHAHA it is annoying as fuck, I'll give you that. |
Yep, in order to get DSL you have to have an actual phone line from the phone company...Embarq. Nice. Although Cox gets pissy if you try to get cable internets without buying their cable service; I don't even know if they offer that for any price. I have a VOIP extension phone here that's run off my company's PBX on the other end of the valley. Works and sounds great. |
+1 BTW, at least paying a few extra bucks for CATV gives me something I ocassionally use. I haven't had a land line since 2000. I work on computers/networks as a side thing, and have seen plenty of both FWIW. |
You're right. I still do have a plane jane analog phone line, and a phone that doesn't need batteries to work. I have a better solution though: Ham radio. I saw first hand on 9/11, even landlines go down due to overloading or physical damage to lines or equipment. In it's purest form, radio depends on none of that infrastructure. I think we're straying off topic though

Can I just come by your place instead? LOL |
