We were told that ATF has now added ANOTHER requirement for new variances. Superior Arms relayed this information to Jonny the other day and Pete has attempted to contact our ATF examiner to see if there is anything we can do to expedite our variance. Superior Arms said they have NEVER heard of this and Terry also stated that after the examiner working on the variance approves it, it then gets sent to an attorney for review????? Terry from Superior Arms also stated that he has three other variances that are being held up by ATF right now. Supposedly there is only one attorney who handles the variances now we just have to wait until ours get his approval. Again, Pete is attempting to find out if there is anything we can do to get this done in faster manner. thanks, Ron |
Dude..can't you wait until they are ready. Sheesh..they said they had some varriations that had to be approved first. |
Yes, if you signed up for one you will be notified -no worries. Should be soon. |
|
Just by way of an update but no real news I am afraid, the paperwork is still wallowing within the bowels of the ATF, we have all be trying to move it along, it seems it is waiting for signoff from an ATF Lawyer then we are all go. We will keep pushing all we can and keep you updated |

WTF? Since when do you have money? |
Who needs money when you have credit. Besides, my wife works. |

I spoke with Terry over at Superior Arms yesterday and was "assured" by ATF that the approval was in the mail. He was also told that ALL variances have to go to somebody in Washington, D.C. and can no longer be approved by the previous manner which was much more expedient. Jonny |
Thanks Jonny, Some of the guys have been asking me how they can register these as pistol lowers. Do you know exactly how or what needs to be done to register the lower as a pistol lower? I know HDI does not deal pistols. |
| In answer to the pistol question, we will transfer them to you as "Virgin" receivers what you choose to build them as is down to you but oviously if your in CC once you complete the pistol build you will require a trip to the local Police Station for a blue card. |
So we do not even need to have them transfered as pistols through another FFL? |
Just need to register them as a pistol with the PD once you build them, its due to a local ATF ruling where they just require "Receiver" not the type |
| It would helpful if someone could post link or information detailing components that need to be on the lower to make it eligible to be registered as a pistol. I have found that Metro sub station personnel dealing with issuance of blue cards at times leave a lot to be desired in the knowledge department. Thanks |
Here You Go |

Sorry for not responding to this thread sooner. HDI should have a "in the white" sample this week for approval. Superior Arms has some new CNC engraving equipment and want us to look at lettering to make sure it's what we wanted. I don't care for thick, deep engraving and prefer the lighter, thinner engraving found on the Colt rifles. So... things are moving and we will post a picture of the receiver sample as soon as we get it. thanks, Ron |
Hey Ron, I just pulled out the Colt and compared it to a SunDevil lower both are very precise and exact. I think I see where Superior is going with new equipment, it gives them a lot of "customer latitude". I agree with you " THIN IS IN ".....MAKE IT HAPPEN Thanks for all your efforts Ron, NEVADASUN |
