It's that time of year again to revive our old culinary experiences, namely: * best BBQ joint *best hamburger joint * best Pizza Let's have it. My personal favorites: BBQ: Buckingham's on Smoke Ranch and Rainbow; Lucille's or BBQ masters when I'm in Henderson. Burgers: hard to believe it, but Red Robin has been damn consistent with their burgers. I can't say that i have had a bad experience there. Pizza: Rocco's NY Style is pretty good, but i've noticed that when you get too many toppings (i.e. a Supreme) it gets soggy. Stick with pepperoni or sausage, and it's good stuff. When I'm in Henderson, it's Vinny's (Villa) Pizza on Boulder HWY, near the theatre. |

Pizza: One Guy From Italy on Eastern/Wigwam Sunset Pizza on Sunset and Eastern Pizza My Dear on Warm Springs and Spencer BBQ: Lucielle's in The District in Green Valley Ranch That's it for now, I'll come up with burgers and mor BBQ later. BTW, and that wasn't me at Memphis who was carrying that night |

Lucille's sucked so badly the one time I ate there that I insisted on a full refund, and will never return. NOTHING they served me that night had any flavor - even the biscuits were horribly bland. At least the service was good. It smelled great, but what a disappointment. +1 on the nomination for Metro Pizza on Trop near Maryland - best pizza I have had here. |
Ah, i FORGOT about that place! That place is good for burgers...too bad it's on the other side of the world for me ![]() I've been hearing that 'Famous Dave's' was pretty good...assuming you guys meant the one in the Best of the West, I'll have to give it a try. |
|
BBQ: Lucille's isn't bad. The meats are good but I prefer the sides at Memphis. Haven't tried the Salt Lick in Red Rock yet but I've read good things. Burgers: Red Robin has been consistenly good even though it's a chain. Islands in Summerlin is great but too far for me. In n Out rules for fast food burgers. Period. Pizza: Jesse's Pizza, Stephanie and Horizon Ridge. As close to NY style as I've had out here and they deliver. Sunset Pizza at Eastern and Sunset is a very close second; they have monster calzones too. I might have to go there for lunch today |

Went to Lucielle's yesterday with the wife and liked it allot. Allot of their stuff is really sweet like their beans and sauses which I like a little more bolder but I liked it allot and more so than Memphis. I did not like Memphis at all. Burgers... Red robin... Well I don't eat pizza anymore cause of cheese so can't comment there. |
|
I haven't had any BBQ. I never knew BBQ dining existed until recently. Red Robin does make a great burger. I can't think of a better place. Villa Pizza, Sunset Pizzeria, and Broadway Pizzeria are my favorite pizza places. I eat Sunset the most because I work right across the street. |
|
barbecue: Famous Dave's on Rainbow and Lake Mead... a little pricey, but great food. BTW: on an aside, I'd stay away from Lucielle's. A bunch of my friends and I went by there and ordered a sampler platter among other things. One of the chicken wings on the platter STILL HAD FEATHERS ON IT... that is all Burgers: I'm gonna have to go for Tony Roma's. It's hard to beat their bacon mushroom swiss burger. (In 'n' Out >all, but that's fast food, so its a different category) I'm not too picky on pizza, so I'll eat anything that's not frozen |
Off topic.....You work at Sunset Park, McCarran, or at the cemetary???? ![]() ETA: You guys/gals have to try One Guy From Italy. It's a pretty new place and the guy talks with a heavy Italian New York accent. His menu is still small but he's there from 11am to 11pm. I bet daily. I recommended him at work, and now my work team orders from him at least once a week. The wife and I just had a traditional Calzone and shared an Antipasto salad. He's over at 8505 S. Eastern. Cross streets Eastern and Wigwam, next to Diversity Tatoo, across from Rite Aid. |

There's such a thing as "good pizza" outside of Berkeley? There's such a thing as "good barbecue" outside of Chapel Hill? I defy you to show me one of these places. Western-style barbecue is as awful as east coast pizza. Both are simply criminally offensive to the palate. Seriously, the only good thing to ever come out of California is its pizza. Since there's no Stromboli's Pizza nor is there an Allen and Sons in the vicinity, I'll have to say that the best pizza in Nevada comes out of Pizza King in Moundhouse (Formerly Nick's Brick Oven in Carson). If you've the means, I highly recommend it. It is choice I ain't had no decent barbecue though since I went west into Tennesee. Red's in Carson is merely okay. Local's is awful and should burn down. |
Real Pizza was invented in NY and perfected in Boston, I thought everyone knew that? While we may not share the taste in Pizza, I would proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with you and light the match at Local's BBQ. That place sucks 4th street hooker ass! Have you tried "Q's"? Decent ribs and brisket, for Carson anyway. I'll try Pizza King in Moundhouse, but I ain't optomistic. There's no good pizza west of the Ohio River and no good ribs outside the deep south. |
He has to be referencing Zachary's - if you haven't had it I suggest you reserve judgement. The only pang of regret I would feel if CA fell into the pacific would be the loss of Zachary's. Oh, and my brother and his family, of course... |
