I teach a class in Church every Thursday and need to get a few things from online. Does anyone know how to search LVRJ.com to find the article where that guy ran 10 people over on the Strip about a year ago? I looked for 30 minutes and couldn't find it. If there are any other cases where cars were used as a weapon to kill people please post what you have. Next Thursday will be a VERY interesting class.

The suspect's name is Stephen Ressa and it happened around September 25th (rough guess on the exact date) 2005.

Type in STEPHEN RESSA in the search and the dates at 2005.

Hope this helps.

I have even a better one!  Back in 1980, in Reno, Nevada, Priscilla Ford drove her Cadillac down a downtown sidewalk, killing six and injuring 23.

Find a story about Ford here:

www.rgj.com/news/stories/html/2005/01/30/90985.php?sps=rgj.com&sch=SparksToday&sp1=rgj&sp2=sparkstoday&sp3=sparkstoday&sp5=RGJ.com&sp6=news&sp7=local_news

And here:

www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2005/Jan-30-Sun-2005/news/25766120.html

If you do a Google search with the key words “Priscilla Ford’ “Reno” “Nevada” you will get more hits.

Is this class an open invitation?  What is the topic?

Thanks.

The topic is going to be how the media distorts alot of stuff and not to believe what they hear from the likes of Dan Rather, the now deceased Peter Jennings and the rest of the media. Since it is a religious ed class I'm going to bring up Peter Jennings 2 hour special on Jesus and how he asked the "scholars" from the "Jesus Seminar" about him, those guys are considered kooks pretty much and are on the fringe of Christianity. I printed out the page on that guy who crashed his car into all those people on the strip and I never once saw a report on his make and model of car and how dangerous they are while after the Metro shooting all I heard about on the news was the AWB and reports on SKS's.

Ha.... you are very correct on that.  Knock 'em dead.  Keep me posted on how the class reacts to it.

Thanks for the info.

You can use Google to search the index created for a site by using the keyword "site:".

For example, to search what you were looking for enter: car strip site:reviewjournal.com

It'll come up with some hits.  If the links are behind a pay site, you can bypass that (most of the time) by clicking on the "Cached" link.

We had fun, I took half of the classtime and whipped out a ton of papers from cdc.gov showing how cars kill 4x the amount of people in the USD each year than guns do. Then I asked why cars aren't reffered to as assault car or assault trucks. I also showed the cdc.gov reports on how falls and poison kills more each year and asked why I never hear about people trying to ban poison or two story houses. It took a while but I managed to tie it in with religion....the kids all liked it and that is important as the class I teach is the "rough" group of kids who's parents only come on Christmas and Easter usually.
