I just saw some 9 or 10 year old kids in Albertsons with tshirts and no jackets. There was a lady in the post office in flip flops. They must be from nothern Canada.

I'm a wuss, left my gloves on inside the store.

wxman says it'll be -17 in Ely, 0 where I'm at near the passes above Tahoe with 50-80 mph wind gusts and -3 at the lake.
That -17 makes your spit freeze to your lips and I don't need to elaborate what happens if your crazy enough to try and write your name in the snow with your onboard yellow inker dinker.

Gettin' to be about the weather for the polar bear club to swim across the south end of the lake in their annual idiot's "migration". There always lookin' for participants.  Any Southies want in?

I was at Heavenly Ski Resort last Friday and there was rummored gusts of -25 at the top...just under my nose burnt a little. Yesterday I was up there again and my beard froze comming down the runs. Whats this about an idiot migration? I was gonna go swimming in Tahoe when it is snowing. I am going to do it for a few reasons: 1. My bro Jake in the Marines was here on leave for a bit before he went back to kicking some dirka dirka ass, I took him to Tahoe to have a good time and check out the ladies but he is stationed in Hawaii and he said the water was freezing in tahoe-this was August, so I am going to send him a video while he's in Iraq of me jumping in as an apology. 2. I just want to see how long I can take that cold of water...so far my record is 32minutes in 42F. 3. I'm just an idiot..dammit you got me!

**Edit**

4. I'm 23 and I'm supposed to do stupid shit...this kind of goes hand-in-hand with reason number 3.

4. I'm 23 and I'm supposed to do stupid shit...this kind of goes hand-in-hand with reason number 3.hris:  What was meant is that those who are into this annual, potentially deadly activity "migrate" up here from the Bay Area just to partake in this. Thus the source of the "migration" are the idiots (from a local's perspective) from the city.haps  So, if you can stand it "raw", as the "club" members wear wet or dry suits, you're a far tougher person than me or most people I know or have known.<insert frozen butt, shriveled timber and shrunken pod icon here>  On the plus side, it looks like these minus temps are good for thinnin' out the crowds so you must have had some outstanding runs without the bumper to bumper masses.  Did you ski in both states?  Do you ever watch "Heavenly Morning" to catch where the choice runs or hidden stashes are?  BTW, what's the FSU stand for?

When I went out this morning in north Sparks, the bank thermometer showed 2.  I don't know how much colder it was last night.

I do know that many people in the area are without water (like me!) due to frozen pipes.

Anybody have good hints on thawing pipes under concrete walkways?

I know how to stop it....let the sink fawcett drip and the bathrom all night and the pipes wont freeze

dripping faucets INSIDE the house will do you NO good to stop frozen pipes.  You have to have the OUTSIDE spickets dripping.  I learned that when I lived in one of the coldest places in the USA----TRUCKEE, CA!!

Yeah. Global Warming my achin' ass.

Shit like this reminds me why I want to move back to Phoenix. Or barring that, Miami. Fuck this cold weather shit.

I lost a tire yesterday because the RUBBER FROZE TO THE GROUND. When I backed up, the tread actually lifted away from the tire, causing a sidewall gash.

Fuck this fucking season.

Hey you guys must be getting some of the weather I had up here in Alaska last week.  We had a 2 or three days with the high temp about -15 F and lows around -30F.  Now it only got down to about 20F last night, I was out side in a sweatshirt and had to go change to a t-shirt.

I will be moving to Fallon this spring so I doubt if I will have to put up with temps this cold again.    Kind of looking forward to being able to go snowboarding in the morning and rock climbing or mountain biking in the afternoon again.

Charming use of profanity, hope it offends you that I didn't quote your whole post I find it hard to believe temps around zero did this to your tire.  We routinely hit -20F and -30F and it doesn't happen around here.  I haven't even heard of that happening up on the North Slope.  You sure there wasn't something else already wrong with the tire?

Steve I know a guy that can help a guy out with 4 new tires for some 7.62 or 7.62x39 ammo he needs both   if you want to make a deal stop by and see me.

THANKS A BUNCH. I'm soooo glad we left NY for a week of fun in the sun.

Went to see the tigers at Seigfried and Roy's this morning and there was ice in all their waterfalls. The handlers at the dolphin tnaks were in Survival Suits.

Any hot springs in the area?

I think we might have a deal, Mr. Gunsap!

Actually, that tire was kind of on its way out anyway (ran it at 10psi for awhile, WHOOPS!), the freezing-to-the-gravel thing only exacerbated the existing problem. Still, it sucks giant old elephant balls that this happened. There's nothing more fun than kneeling in the ice and snow before dawn, trying frantically to change a tire using those stupid scissors jacks that came with the car.

I hate winter.
