This morning at about 7am 2 of my business partner and I were discussing what we were going to do today and we notice someone pull up right next to one of our trucks. About 20 seconds later we notice the tool box lid is up on the truck and we see the guy walking around and pulling tools out of the box. We all crash downstairs and run outside and the guy sees us coming and he runs around the truck and starts trying to get in the car to get away. We got a couple of punches in on him and he makes it into the car somehow. My partner punches out the driver’s window and grabs an arm and is trying to pull him out while another runs around and is trying to kick out the passenger window. I am standing in front of the car prepared in case he tries something really dumb to try and hurt one of us. I cannot believe it but the guy gets the car started and puts it in gear and starts rolling. We are still trying to get him out and he just floored it out onto the main street in front of a semi that locked up his brakes and laid on his horn to avoid this a**hole. I called NLV Police immediately with make and model of car along with the license number. Now here it is an hour later and we haven’t been contacted by the police at all and I don’t expect much too even happen at this point. I just can’t believe the balls of thieves! Our office is in NLV on Donovan way just north of Craig and this sealed the deal for us moving our offices out to Henderson. Just an update it is now 8:45am we had to call NLV Police back because we waiting for someone or something to show up and we called back their dispatch and they couldnt find any record of our call and they are going to dispatch an officer to our location. We looked back on the cell phone that I called on and there was a call to 911 for 3 minutes. TOTALLY FREAKING AMAZING!! |

I would make sure to write a letter to the NLV City Council and let them know why you are moving your business (their revenue) to Henderson. BTW.... here is ANOTHER one that just really pisses me off. My office girl's younger sister is a meth addict and runs with a crew that break into homes during the day. They go to Henderson and Summerlin where the "white people have more money". She calls my office girl all the time trying to sell her stuff. She even trys to play on her sympathies and says that she should buy it for their mom because her mom is so poor and it would really help her. My girl gets really pissed and there is nothing she can do. The sister will come home once a week, get some clothes, make a mess and back out the door again. The parents don't do anything about it because they afraid to "hurt her" and that she is the baby of the family . She even taunts my office girl about being stupid enough to work all day and only making $12 an hour when she could be making $100's a day.I hate to say it but I just wish one home they broke into had the homeowner there with a gun who was "in fear of his life" and put all those jerks to sleep thanks, Ron |
| Last update: I sent emails to the entire city counsel and the chief of police. I recieved a call from the Police Chief personally assuring me this is not standard procedure for NLV Police and that they would have somebody out to get a report and investigate why there was no response to the 911 or followup phone calls. He also stated that he would hate for my company to leave NLV and move to Henderson because of the poor way that this was handled on their behalf. The NLV community response vehicle that responded had a female officer that didnt even have a gun. Also there was another female that appeared to be some sort of secretary. They took report and gave us a case file. We are sooo moving our office! |

My neighbor when I lived off Cheyenne was burglarized and NLVPD sent out a Community Service Officer who only asked what was taken and said she'd get a report filed. Then this broad said that the detectives may get around to it. I know North town is a busy area but that answer was bullshit. So what my neighbor ended up doing was going door to door asking questions about suspicious activity in the area. She ended up finding 3 other neighbors that got hit on the same day. They ended up doing all the leg work, made a stink to the cops and got the 4 little bastards who burgled the houses. NLVPD came in and hooked those little fuckstains up. The fucked up part was that they hit apartments all around me and when the cops asked the fuckers why they didnt hit my house they said they couldn't pin down my comings and goings and didn't want to risk running into me. Damn right, they would have had a talk with Mr. Mossberg and Mr. Kimber. whttacoma- I would seriously suggest moving your business from North Las Vegas entirely. If more businesses did, I think the NLVPD would take a more active role in responding to calls for service by realizing their tax base is erroding due to businesses leaving their town. |
Yeah that's a damn shame isn't it? |
Any day you don't get to shoot home invaders is like a day without sunshine. |

as for the burglaries: it's VERY VERY difficult to do much about this with the NLVPD being so understaffed. often times, there's only 5 officers on the road for the entire north half of the city (north of Alexander). There are 2 burglary detectives right now that are working their asses off constantly because of the high call load. They do a great job on the ones they can make it to, but you have to understand that very few burglaries actually have information that can be followed up on. There are another 27 Officers in field training right now who should be out on the road around February with another 25+ in the academy following right behind them. They're also moving to 3 academies a year with 25+ in each academy from now on. Things are going to change within the next year or two dramatically. NLVPD is also opening up another area command (Northeast) around July, so call times will be reduced somewhat in the mean time. |
The not having a gun shouldn't be too surprising. This wasn't a 'hot' call where the hostiles were present or posing a continued danger. I 'm not defending their choice of responder, but that's just how it is. NLV spends a huge amount of its tax dollars on public service, and as Blazin413 said, it's still short-staffed. They have some good officers here (having worked with several over the past few years). Criminals strike everywhere, as Ron pointed out as well. I wouldn't be so sure you'd be safer in Henderson than in NLV for property crimes. |
Henderson, unlike NLV, spends millions on equipment. ARs for all their officers, issued laptops with GPS and aircards and such, mostly new vehicles, fingerprint ID access to their stations, etc. NLV spends most of its money on its officers. |
Good job kicking some ass! Hope you at least dropped an elbow on one of the shitbags for us guys here on the board. I say you did a great job - and screw the idea that cops will help you, Police all over this country are under trained, under funded, and way -way under paid. Don’t count on them to ever help you out when your in the shit, they are human garbage men - they show up and pick up the human garbage and bring it to be processed somtimes they even investigate how the garbage came to be and what it has done in the past. No offense to any LEO here, I have the upmost respect for them. |
Actually it IS surprising to me... the bad guys don't differentiate between officers just taking a report or officers responding to a call. If you have a badge, no matter what kind of call you're on or where, I would think you just have a bullseye on your back for some of these scumbags- male or female. Hell, going to Smiths isn't a "hot" call and I still pack. BTW- I DO understand what you're saying... I just don't agree with the mentality of those officers(or whatever their titles are) choosing to NOT have the ability to defend their lives if the SHTF... |

Just to clarify: The latest trend for many Departments is to hire folks to help out with report calls and other errands. We (Metro) call them PSR's (Patrol Service Representatives) and they are not armed, as they are not Cops. They do, however take a lot of the workload off of Patrol, leaving us time to handle more pressing needs. If they discover anything that needs a follow up investigation, they'll call us. |
Good to know... thanks. |
