Looking to get some truglo's put on my kimber and was curious what are some good smith's in the vegas area. Thanks |

That remains to be seen. Bass Pro charges you $50 just to look at it. Assholes, what are they, a damn car dealership? I took a pistol in to another place that after almost 2 months in their shop they actually have it on their bench now. Just minor repair not a 1911 build up. Do what I'm going to do and start doing it yourself. |

If you are looking for night sights, P-T is the way to go. The best part is, they are local. Also very nice folks to deal with, and they do nice work. P-T Nightsight Lem |

What the fuck is with the attitude? There is no need to be a little bitch. Not everyone had hooked on phonics as a kid. As for a gunsmith, I have yet to find anyone in town who has a clue when it comes to 1911's and gunsmithing in general. I have asked a ton of people who shoot 24/7 up at Desert Sportsmans where to get good work done, and they all say to ship your gun if you want it done right. That being said, I have had Novak install sights for me in the past. The offer a one week turnaround, and you just ship your slide. They are the industry leaders when it comes to sights, so that it what I would do. They also offer fiber optic sights. I'd rather spend a few more bucks and send my gun to a quality smith, than try to save time/money with the hacks in town. Sorry about some people being unable to just answer your question, you would think all Nevadans would be able to come here and post knowing that everyone else is going to try and help them. |
One name: Burt Taylor. Those that know of him have no doubt about his ability. He recently milled (from billet) a set of fiber optic sights that shone so brightly you needed sunglasses to look at them. He's built 2 1911's for me in the past, at higher than average price, but he is an artisan. I stake my life on his work, as do many who carry his custom 1911's. PM me and I'll give you his number, but don't expect a 2-day turnaround, he takes his time and works as if it's his own gun. Feel free to spell check this post, I'm always striving to improve my writing skills.... |

If we're considering out of state, there are several good smiths in AZ. You might even be able to just mail in your slide and barrel. Check: www.theactionworks.com www.vangcomp.com I've had work done by both of them, they are TOP notch. |

Did you get the tru-glo with the tritium?? One problem I had on a demo with them was the tubes will come out after shooting the gun quite a bit. Sure, they'll replace them, but why go through that especially when you are paying someone to install them. The idea is neat, they just needed a design change. maybe they fixed it....... I have PT. Had a couple of problems with their double bar model. They quit offering it the way it was. Any good bump and you would rupture one of the flat capsules. For me, I prefer something different about the rear sight-have a non-dominant eye issue. PT had the only sight that would work for me. They were always good with service. I did have the gun shop on Boulder do it. Think it was called Accuracy. |
+1 on PT's. I have them on three guns. |
