Just to remind all you boys that we will be having a Two Gun Match this Sunday (Mother's Day) At Desert sportsman at 0900. You will need a Subgun and a rifle. Any Rifle will do with open sights or scope. You should sight the rifle in for about 65 yds. You will have to take out some steel targets with the rifle before you can pick up the subgun and finish the course. I am sure that some pictures will be posted after the match. Hope to see you there. |
| The subgun match is ALWAYS held the 2nd Sunday of the month, rain or shine, wind or snow. As you can see, even Mother's Day doesn't stop the match. Setup starts at 8:00 and we begin promptly at 9:00. With the sizzling summer temperatures poised to kick in, next month's match on Sunday June 12th, will be the last before the two month summer break. The entry fee is just ten dollars for members of Desert Sportsman and non-members pay eleven bucks to compete. |

MACHINE GUN MATCH 5/8/05 TONY DEE A perfect Mother’s Day morning greeted us for today’s match. The shooter started with a rifle and had to engage 5 steel targets at the back of the bay at about 65 yds. A small clay target was also placed there and if the shooter hit it a 15 second bonus was taken from his time. Jason Davis and Tony Dee were the only two shooters that got the clay. The shooter then picked up his pre staged sub gun and engaged a wide assortment of steel and paper targets. The course was reset for the second stage in which the shooter had two shots to engage a small 4 inch steel target along with the aspirin sized clay target. Several shooters hit the steel but only Irv Falkoff got the clay. The shooter then took his sub gun and had to take out several steel targets. A two man team event was held after the main match. One member was armed with a rifle and the other had the sub gun. Names were drawn at random and the team member with the rifle had to engage 5 steel targets before the other member started with the sub gun. A bit of pressure was present for each member which added to the fun. The results were very close. Next month we will do a sub gun match at the 2nd small bay across from the overhang. This will be a very different match for us and all I can say is, bring your DRUMS and LOTS of AMMO. Match will be on JUNE 12th at 0900 setup at 0800.
