| Need a little vacation... So today I booked a short trip to Sin City. Will be in Vegas 3/30-4/2. Let me know what to check out while there... on the CHEAP! |
| A little gunstuff is always good... but short of renting Class 3 not sure what I would want to do, and like I said, I'm aiming cheap! I know there is tons of free stuff and cheap stuff to do. Which are the best free "shows" at the casinos? I know one has something with a pirate ship and a battle on the "seas". I hear that some of the hotels that have comedy clubs that you can catch a show at for the cost of a drink... You get the idea. |
| I am looking for a cheap Shotshow room in another thread. Here is a link Wolfpack posted.www.cheapovegas.com/index.php |

Yeah cheapovegas.com is a pretty cool site. I used it to narrow down my search for rooms to a few hotels. Ended up booking on Travelocity.com after calling Wolfpack to confirm the hotel was ok. $360 includes roundtrip airfare from NY and three nights at Terrible's Hotel and Casino just off the strip. All taxes included. A pretty fair deal since airfare alone would have cost me around $320, so by going with a package I got three nights in a pretty decent hotel for $40. Thank God travel channel has Vegas specials on all week, getting lots of tips from them. |

Tough for locals to recommend "cheap" excursions and venues; I know I'm pretty jaded. Decent hotel, no problem there. Just hope you like walkin. 1/4 mi N of Hard Rock, 1 mi E of "Strip". 'Bout $10 cab ride from AP. Lots of brochures at check-in desk to peruse, many have coupons. Especially daytime attracts mostly geriatric crowd locally. LOTS of dining nearby; area called "restaurant row" by cabbies. Food at Terrible's good; service less so, and not really cheap. Shuttle buses not always on schedule; don't miss your return flight."Ice Gardens" skating rink nearby if you like, not much else around there. Oh yeah-"Paradise Club" across from Hard Rock; but cetainly NOT cheap... |

To get the cheap airfare I have an ungodly early flight out of Vegas on Friday morning... 07:00! Guess I won't be sleeping Friday and will just stay up and grab a cab to the airport around 05:30. To get a flight any later in the day drove the package up $100-$150 and just wasn't worth it to me for a couple more hours... plus with the time zone change I'd be getting home VERY late. It costs $10 to take a cab one mile from Terrible's to the strip? I'm wondering if I should rent a car. Would rather not spend the extra money... then again if the weather is decent at the end of March a mile walk isn't such a bad thing to work off all those Vegas buffets! As it is I plan on making EricE my tour bitch while in town... it will be the most excitement he's had since he heard Bea Arthur was doing a topless review at the Western!

Mike- the airport ride is about $10. And do NOT rent a car!!!Not AT ALL worth a DUI!! Just cab it! (Parkin' can be a hassle, too.) Wolfpack- you guys are SADISTS!! He'll NEVER recover!!!The longest walk of his life will be walkin' OUT of those doors!!!I can't tell you how many guys had to RUSH out to catch their plane! Broke! Besides, the "A" team members don't usually start 'til 'bout 10:00! Start at the Palms (if you can get in) THEN get serious. That's the usual traffic flow. Older egocentrics walk over to the Rio....known bar hangouts for "entertainment". Youngest crowd at the Hard Rock. (Bein' an ex-cabbie ya learn quick...I talk too much...) |

Cheap thrills (especially if you haven't been out west before} The drive up to Zion National Park, especially the canyon section. Red Rock Canyon west of town. Is Hoover Dam including the dam still open to visitors? Last time I ws there on the AZ side at the top and beyond were wild burros and an antelope herd. Drive up to Area 51 and try to sneak past the security. But if you need some winding town you can always got to the Candy, marshmallow and Cranberry Juice factories. |
| I was under the impression it was like four hours to the South Rim as the bus tours talk about being 10 or 11 hours there and back including a stop for pictures and lunch at the Canyon. In any event, I really am having a hard time justifying being that close and not going... I mean its a hell of a haul from NY to NV and lord knows when I might be able to make it out that way again. I definitely want casino time and shit on the strip, but the Grand Canton is one of those experiences I've long desired to have. Would love it if you were able to break away for the day Bob. I thought about renting a car and doing the drive on my own, but that is a long haul alone. |

Sorry it took me so long to find this thread, my new house is kicking my ass. Oh, I'm sure we'll find something to do while you're in town. I dunno if you want to hang out with Wolfpack though... every excursion with him somehow turns into trolling the local high schools looking for trim.
