I live in the Green Bay area. I know there is a range down near Madison that is out to 1000 yards, but I don't think I'm quite ready for that. I'm looking for a range or a place to shoot that has some good distance 300-400 yards. I have friends with land, but they just don't have the same passion for shooting as I do. I would also like some instruction on long range shooting. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Any kind of classes or courses in this area?

Shiocton has a range out to 567 yards. There's a 50, 100, 200, 300, 567. They also have a pistol range at 10 yards or so. They have a large 3X4 sheet of steel that you can shoot and 5 gongs as well. It's only $5 for the day. Really nice place! Just make sure that you're following the rules posted because the Shiocton police stroll through there often.

There is no membership required? That's awesome, thanks for the great info!

Also what's you're long range setup? Gun, caliber? Do you have a 22? What kind of groups are you getting with your gun that you plan on shooting longer ranges?

No membership but I think next year they're going to make a mandatory $5 charge or $40 for the whole year...

I have a 7 mm that I'd like to get better with. I deer hunting with it and some longer range practice would be nice. I also have an ar15 I would like to reach out and touch with. I don't know of any groups to get involved with, that's kind of why I asked.

Sorry miss read the question. And since I rarely get to shoot outside of 100 yards I couldn't tell you what kind of groups. And yes I have a .22.

You may want to look at ox-bow sportsman club in Hilbert WI, about 30 miles south of green bay. $10/day or $20 for an annual shooting pass. They go out to 300 yards (you can drive down) with solid shooting benches. They have a pistol berm, 25, 50, 75, 100, 200 yds as well. You can shoot steel etc, just pick up after yourself.

Winnequah.  Just helped a friend zero his Garand there over the holiday weekend and rang some steel afterwards.  Wonderful range.

I thoroughly enjoy going there. It's fantastic IMO.

Do they ever have open events to the public? I just can't justify spending that much for dues just to shoot once or twice a year.
