Any body have experience with the First Strike Scope stand? I shoot high power at Lodi and am looking to upgrade.
There isn't much data out on the web, I'm kind of torn between Giraud, good web site, and First Strike, bad web site. The Pole Cat and Ray-Vin seem to have the best web presence. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance, Tony |

How about the Jim Owens stand?

Thanks for replying!
I'm looking to move up scope stand wise. I have a two leg type which was fine with a small (cheap) scope. My Kowa 821 is just too heavy for off hand. The Creedmoore products are good, just expensive. Unfortunately, the alternatives are poorly documented. First Strike and Giruad seem to be the best of the cheaper alternatives. Unfortunately, little info on them is available. There used to be something called "Big Blue". Seems to have disappeared from the web site. Tony |

Might also check with EKL Industries, see if they're still wheeling and dealing stands. I got one from them a number of years back, and its handled all the abuse I've thrown at it. I've been out of that game for a long time, but I'd bet good money that at least some members of the Liebetrau family still shoot Highpower and Palma, etc. at Lodi. Earl (EKL) and his wife Karen used to run many matches. You shouldn't have any trouble finding someone there to show you one in use before you decide which to buy. Jim Owens also used to come to many of the matches also, but I think he lived up North back then. His website now shows an Alabama address for the business, so he may not be a regular anymore. I really miss shooting there. Wonderful place and great folks. |

I see Earl and Karin at matches. They are always working, don't know if I've see either on shoot more than once.
My current stand is an EKL, It is just too small for the larger scope. I'm going to keep it for use with a small (cheap) scope. The EKL works great at the indoor range. Nice and compact. I can't see hauling a giant stand, etc indoors. At the range, their is everything imaginable. Some guys even made their own (copy other designs). Same with range carts. Range carts I have a better understanding of. Scope stands........................ I can recognize the "Big Blue" but the rest is just a blur. Didn't think to ask at the dinner meeting we just had. I'd probably have got the same answers I get with my cart questions. Everybody does something different. From First Strike carts, to Scheller ? To Creedmoore................ Dollys, wagons, PVC pipe with a shooting stool and wheels................ One guy even made a "First Strike" cart from an old weight bench. Heavy, but much admired. Was going to make one this winter, but my boss had better uses for my time. Thanks again, Tony |

Photos of the First Strike
CMP Scope Stands First Strike Did figure out the FS is a single 48" stainless tube. The Giraud comes in segments and can have a ground spike. Giraud Web Site Guess I about have enough info to make a decision (Gulp!). Thanks, Tony |

Thanks all for your input!
I decided to to cry once and bought the Creedmoor PoleCat. An extra $100 or so, but I got a segmented pole. It is light, handles my large kowa scope with ease and I got excellent service from Creedmoor (I was a high maintenance client). Didn't even cry once! Tony |
