So the son is at FVTC Appleton, first year. He has been looking for a job since August when he started = no luck.
He is residing in an apartment and is still looking for a job (ant lead would suffice as well). So what type of assistance is there for him with utilities, food, etc. I am not promoting hand outs but am looking for possible programs (break in electricity, WIC, etc) that he may qualify for as a full time unemployed student. Thanks for any leads. V OUT |

He's looking to work and go to school full time? Dayam. I did a short stint at FVTC, but I had the GI Bill to help out without a job.
If he doesn't mind the workload, he should look into security. Indeed.com show plenty of openings in the area. I can attest that it's the perfect job to let you knock out schoolwork on the clock, especially if you are working 3rd shift. Of course, you're technically not supposed to do that, but that widely depends on how lenient the supervisor will be. He won't have much of a social life, but then again, that depends on how serious he is about school. I know the power companies usually offer a low income credit of somesorts, and he probably qualifies for some sort of food stamp program, but I don't know the exact particulars. |

He is committed to Monday - Wednesday (8am - noon) classes. Thursday 12-4pm. Friday, Saturday and Sunday off.
Unbelievably he is does NOT qualify for any grants because even though he is living on his own (an apartment in Appleton as a full time student) because the .gov takes into consideration my wife and my income. I am mainly looking for local programs (low income utilities assistance, food pantry, etc) such as what we have here in Green Lake to offset his financial drain (He is quickly burning through his savings). I was hoping Appleton locals or maybe people who work in these areas would be able to point him in the right direction. Thanks on any leads. V OUT |

The company I work for is in Little Chute, and they run shifts 24x7 doing manufacturing.
There are always lots of other positions (maintenance, janitorial, etc etc) that go along with that. Not sure what he's looking for, or what may be available, but if he's interested, drop me a PM and I can get you the contact info for our internal recruiter. |

V.,
Back in the late 80's I had to be declared independent to receive grants. I also worked "workk study" jobs that were at the UW at the time. I am not sure if thar funding still exists. It wss tough and spring break meant I worked fulltime. No partying for me. The money I was able to qualify for far exceeded any tax benefit my Dad was getting from me. I lobbied for two years to be independent. Took him forever to give upthe tax break. Have him go to the financial aid office to see what they have and check for paid internships in his field of study. What is his field of study? Good luck. |

And all of this too except my parents gave it up readily. I worked my way through last 3 years of college working half+ time as an EMT nights and weekends. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Homeland Security for now.
He wants to go in the military. I explained to him the financial benefit of retiring as a Commissioned Officer and not a 22 year enlisted troop like my wife and I were. V OUT Quoted:
