| Can anyone tell me if it's worth the effort to make the court appearance. Any likelihood of point or fine reduction? |

Suppose this depends on the details.
Wife's friend got one of those insult to injury "Driving too fast for conditions" tickets when she plunked the front tires of her car in a ditch last winter. One of those situations where some idiot pulls out in front of you and your two choices are: hit the brakes and hope roads aren't too icy or rear-end the offending car. She took it it court. Dane county judge knocked it down a bit, but essentially told her to get bent. It wasn't worth the effort in her opinion. |

I legitimately earned the citation avoiding sally smartphone merging on to 151 at 50 mph in 70 mph traffic. I was on my bike with a semi behind me as well as beside me. I accelerated into the left lane in front of the trucker to avoid her and right into the speed trap. I'll pay my dues but if I can get a point reduction I'll make the trip. Thanks. |

I would had just let her hit me. Hitting the brakes in traffic isnt that good of an idea. She'd end up with a few tickets on that. Quoted:

And the OP would end up dead. 70+ mph car vs bike doesn't end well. |

Get the ticket from State Patrol in Dane County? Mail in a not guilty plea. You'll get a second date to meet with one of the ADAs for a "pre-trial conference" where they usually will offer to lower both the points and the fine. It was the Dane county sheriff dept. Officer was a motorcycle patrolman. |

I got a speeding ticket in the infamous town of Rosendale. Made a not guilty plea. In the pre-trial conference phone call, clerk reduced it to no points, cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct in an automobile. Scam was to pay a bigger fine but no points assessed. Watch your speed if you're driving through this town...highest amount of tickets issued in the state. |
