Oh to be able to look to the South and see a mushroom cloud off in the distance! Radiation bad.... Standard issue carpet bombing will do nicely Prevailing winds FTW. Madison gets nuked, sure, most of the eastern half of the state is fooked. But for those outside of the affected areas, pure zen.

Small price to pay to clean the state up.
But yes, as much as I'd like to see some canned sunshine, conventional weapons would be best suited. |

Unfortunate, I know, but: 1. Some sacrifices would have to be made; but it would be a small price to pay for the betterment of Mankind and the hope for Freedom for future generations. 2. One can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. 3. Surely those noble Arfcom member souls downwind would gladly offer themselves for so great a cause; (wouldn't you)? ( I know I would!) And last but not least: 4. It's a joke! Seriously-I'm not advocating the use of thermo-nuclear weapons against Soglinville! (That would possibly violate the COC, not too sure about that, but better to be safe.) Besides there are some good breweries in Madison!

| My wife knows I'm a WWII history buff and surprised me with a ride in Aluminum Overcast 3 years ago. (I'd told her it was too expensive; she ignored me.) Incredible. Sitting in the bombardier's compartment is the best view ever. I wonder how much the ground display tickets are for the B-29... |

| Interesting, looks like the B17 is a lot cheaper because it's an EAA instead of CAF plane. And when I rode the B17, you could walk between the bombardier seat, the radio compartment, the waist guns, etc., while the B29 makes you stay in your assigned area. Just FYI for anyone considering it. |

I am PUMPED for this! Althought I can't afford the ride in either, I'll be drooling all over these airplanes for sure and plan to get inside for "training". I'll be sure to get some pictures of my truck in front of each of them!!! Have you guys started some prep work for this event? I talked to an EAA guy from the local chapter that's putting this on and they weren't sure how they were going to coordinate it yet. They were hoping the airport would allow them to barricade off a section of the East ramp for this. Last year with just the B17 there they had volunteers escorting people back and forth between the plane and the FBO. A lot of people turned up for just that one plane so I can imagine that B29 and B24 will draw an even bigger crowd. Be nice if they'd run a shuttle service from the main terminal parking. There's not that much parking over by WI Aviation. |

There's not that much parking over by WI Aviation. Truthfully I found out about this event when I first read this post three days ago. With the hit that Airventure is taking this year because of sequestration this kind of little air show will be almost as good as anything you can see in Oshkosh and I'm sure you're right when you predict a HUGE draw. I work again on Wednesday'; If I happen to bump into somebody from Airport Operations I'll see what they have planned. As for the fire department... If I'm not on the east ramp eye humping the planes I'll be standing somewhere just outside my crash truck taking pictures like an Asian guy on vacation! |
| Not to hijack the thread back to the original purpose, but I am in Smyrna, TN and we had the B-29 "Fifi" do several flyovers this afternoon. They have a similar pay-to-fly type event here at the Smyrna airport right now. It was a very cool experience, but I work for Nissan and I wonder if some of the Japanese staff may have gotten a little nervous... |
