When you get there and the counterman is resting his wrist on the counter edge, holding a revolver with the cylinder closed, his finger is on the trigger, and he is pointing the muzzle at head height.

Feedback after the fact is pretty ineffective.

Feedback needs to be immediate to be most effective.

Guns attract retards.
No gun store is immune.
There is a great thread on TOS called dumbest things heard at a gun store.
I'd link it, but the staff and mods on this site get buttsore at the mention of the site.

I try not to talk to people at them on the few occasions I go to them.
I order most everything online.

Constantly bringing up the Nelson thread is straight up the same level of retardedness one finds at gun stores.
You deliberate effort at trolling proves to everyone your maturity level.
Perhaps one day Arfcom will grow up, and adult conversations can be had.
Until then, the derp will remain strong.

It's a matter of perspective. When the Nelson thread was born, I thought it was humorous and irrelevant. For you it was, and still is, an infected wound.

When I refer to it now it's still humorous and irrelevant for me, and perhaps for a few other's around here as well. I think it's immature to get all worked up over something like "bad words".  I think it's immature to demand that no jokes be made in reference to the Nelson thread.

But perception is reality.  So I won't argue with you or try to change your perception.

Somewhere in this world there is a grown woman who had a pet chicken when she was a little girl.  She loved that chicken.  Then one day the chicken was crossing the road and got flattened by a Buick.  Now, whenever somebody tells the 'Why did the chicken cross the road" joke, that woman turns red in the face and screams "THAT'S NOT FUNNY YOU INSENSITIVE BASTARD!"

polymorpheous: Don't be that woman.

You know, Mr. MVP, my original post in this thread didn't mention Nelson.

Anyone who witnessed the Nelson thread has already made up their mind on the matter. No jokes of further discussion is going to change their mind or erase their memory.

Anyone who did not witness the Nelson thread would have read my post in this thread and just furrowed their brow a little bit and moved on. They would not have linked it to Nelson.  No further damage would have been done to Nelson.  But then you and ParrOthead came along spilled the beans.  OpSec FAIL.

The #1 reason to leave a gun shop is topless women outside on the street.  I can deal with dumb asses in a gun shop but why do it when there are boobies running around on the street?

In 50 years this has never happened to me but I know my priorities.

Speaking of metric system...

Stopped at Cabelas yesterday. Buncha people looking for X caliber, or Y caliber. Could'nt be bothered to check the shelves to see what was where, instead we just bark out "Where the heck is the handgun ammo?"

My favorite was a group of guys that could not find any .308. Meanwhile, I walk up and grab two boxes of "7.62x51" M80. All the time, listening them bitch about ammo shortages.(50 round box, 42.99)

Would have been interesting if you managed to get a picture of this on a cell phone.

Didn't the Deforest Gander just have some sort of CCW expo there on Saturday?  Thought I heard something on the radio about it.

They had signs up about something on Saturday morning.  I was mowing and garden tilling all day.

I thought about saying something to the guy but wanted to get away from that pointing muzzle.

I see it all of the time, the four rules of gun safety don't apply to me here, but only to you when you are hunting.  Gun store etiquette is sorely lacking.  I don't think that they think of it as such, I think that the lacking is just a matter of training.

Your probably not going to change them, but when a muzzle is pointed in my direction, I move and move NOW.  You decide what is best for you.

AWESOME!!! Good find.  I had that same issue, 4 people crabbing about no .308 ammo ANYWHERE... boooohooooo, whaaaambulance etc. etc. I walked in, looked down low behind the counter and found 8 boxes of Federal 7.62X51 M1A 168 grain OTM Match ammo made for the M1A match shoots (good stuff) and it still had the old stickers with $16.95 a box. I grabbed all 8, laid down the cash, the gun store owner smirked and shook his head and rolled his eyes at the 4 tards and away I went.

No real big surprise. Every Gander Mtn. gun "employee" ive talked to has no idea about ANY of the firearms and if you ask em a serious question, they look at you like they are a blonde cheerleader. Last experience I had, I saw a used Glock G22 with 2 TEN ROUND mags (not even high caps) and they wanted $650.00!!! I calmly yelled at the guy and said "Where do you get off asking this much for this hardware?!?! I can get brand new Glocks for $440.00 and they come with 3 HIGH CAP MAGS!!" Now granted that was when Streichers used to be a stocking Glock dealer and that was their asking price, but still, he flat out calls me a liar and says there is NO place you can buy a Glock for under $600 blah blah blah. I just dis-assembled the gun, topslide from frame (which he couldn't do), and set it on the counter and walked away. Told the manager on the way out that his gun guy lost the store a customer for the rest of my life.

Slayer announced Friday that guitarist Jeff Hanneman's recent death had nothing to do with a spider bite. Coroners determined Hanneman died from alcohol-related cirrhosis.

He got necrotizing fasciitis, which is a totally METAL fuckin' bacterial infection. (His ID doc conjectured that it could have come from a spider bite.) He went into a coma within days and almost lost his arm. He lost big chunks of his arm during the first year.

My conjecture is that the cirrhosis that killed him was the result of two years of self-medicating to "deal with" the necrotizing fasciitis that continued to plague him and took away his livelihood and passion.

Normally I would take offense to this, but I was only a Gander Mtn employee for a year. I helped set up the Lacrosse Gander Academy, and get it opened. As soon as they decided not to do CCW classes until there was a formal class itinerary set up by the state. I was teaching ccw on my own the day after I left, and tripled my weekly salary and cut my hours in half. One thing Ive learned, they may hire great people who are knowledgeable as hell, but they dont stay employees for long. As for their pricing, dont get me started on their used gun pricing policy, it would shock most people to death! Lets just say 75% markup on what they paid for it is the minimum!
