What are the required (no weapons allowed ) signs supposed to look like. Size, wording, color, dimensions. Went to Applebee's last night  for dinner in Lacrosse. Hadn't noticed it before. Would like to tell them their sign is out of spec and that I'm not coming back till the sign is removed.

In my old hometown where I work in New Albin, Iowa. Starting to see more Guns Welcome signs. I'm thinking about putting a All Glocks Welcome sign up

Dan, issat you?  Thought teh wolves got ya.

Anyhow, no real specs to the signs. Just have to be posted conspicously near entrances.  I could write"no guns allowed inside" with crayon on teh back of a shoebox, and superglue it to the front door.

That said, concealed means concealed, and it seems they're always willing to take my money.

Applebees and most Pizza Huts are operated by WI Hospitality Group. They are very much anti-gun, and you have little to no chance they'll change their mind.

Not saying we shoudn't try.....

943.13(2)(bm)1. In this paragraph, "sign" means a sign that states a restriction imposed under subd. 2. that is at least 5 inches by 7 inches.

well dose and incorrect sign have weight of law? the intent is still there to not allow guns

Far as I'm concerned, no they dont. They cant follow the law about posting, thats their problem.

Personally I still say WI should standardize the signs to 11X17" hunter orange with specific wording, must be on ALL doors in the middle of the doors and signs cant be made, must be bought from the state for $500/each and valid for 1 yr from issue. That should help balance the budget.

There will be people along shortly to tell you that you will still be cited regardless. See the "no CONCEALED weapons" discussion. lol.....

"People"

AFAIK the "legal" sized signs are 'notification' of trespassing if carrying.  That is, if there is one, or you saw one, or you know it's there, it's notification you are trespassing if you are carrying.

They can also notify you verbally if there is no sign.

Once notified, the ticket writers can go directly to citing for it.

I am not sure about knowing a place is anti-gun (no sign, or on the other door you didn't go through) being notification or not.

I have to admit, I have walked out of a place or two having visited for whatever reason while carrying not realizing they had posted.  Standardized sign colors or "print this, only legal notification" would help that out a bit.  Some places, deliberately post the sign in wierd places (Harbor Freight, looking at you) to "not piss off gun customers" while at the same time trying to be anti-gun. So if their sign sucks, or is in an odd place and I don't see it as a result, I don't feel at all like I violated one of their rules.

The signs have made it easy to figure out who not to give my money to more than it has kept me from carrying.  A lot of them have come down over the last year.

FWIW, the signs should be something like 12x12. Something non-standard that can't be run off a copier by a anti groups and sent out en-mass, like some have been doing.

Ding ding ding!

Or at least 11x17, something not as common to have around.

Has anyone  entertained the possibility that could be the intent of a property owner to post an "out of spec" no weapons sign on their door? Not saying that is case in the OP, or whether it is "right or wrong" tactic, but if you were a property owner dealing with anti 2A assholes... I'm just saying.

I've actually seen signs that were too small.  My favorite are the clear stickers that are technically big enough if you measured them, but the colored wording is waaaay too small to meet the requirements.
