| I just moved and I'm wondering what exactly I have to do to get my permit updated. I checked the DOJ site, but it didn't really say anything other than you have 30 days to do so. Do I have to resubmit a whole application? |

I've been looking for that for 4 months...... Thanks

| The addresses have to match, and they both take about the same amount of time to process since your drivers license is mailed to you now. When they issue your new CCW license, they ask you to mail the old one back. I just held on to mine until my new drivers license came back. |

So, here's the next question. I'm guessing it's advisable to make sure your info with the DMV is updated first? I'm gonna have to update my old man's info soon. Guessing it's safest to do DMV then CCW. You do not have to do the DMV first but the DMV wants you to notify them within 10 days of a move. It may take 10 business days to receive your new license in the mail. You could begin the process concurrently as there is no real reason to wait for one before doing the other. The DOJ would get your info while you wait for your new driver license to come in the mail. There are 2 steps to getting your address physically changed on your driver license. First, you complete the address change form on line. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/change.htm Then you request a duplicate license which will have your new address on it. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/drivers/duplicate-license.htm You have 30 days after an address change to notify the DOJ. |

When you change your addess do you loose your issued card number? I really want to keep my 3 low 3 digit number. Not that I am moving or anything.... Me neither. But i'm in the process of moving my old man up to Point, so I can keep a closer eye on him. I have POA, and while he does not have a driver's license any longer, he has a state ID, and a CCW. |
| As we learned yesterday, info in both the DOJ and DOT systems need to match. See links above. You also do not have to go get a new drivers license, just update info online. Of course there are many reasons to get a new drivers license with current address but for the purposes of being legal and current you don't have to do so, just update info on record. |

I recommend to always get a fresh driver license with an address change. You never know when you may want to purchase a "new" gun... |

You don't have to get a new CCW card. I just mailed in the form for address change. Since my name matches my DL and my DL has my current address and the DOJ has my current address for CCW, why get the new CCW card? It is a personal choice. I prefer to have my address match my current address on both documents/forms of ID... |
