Just got laid off...

Anyone looking for a .NET developer?

Looking forward to the new opportunities though...that job was getting kind of stale anyway.

Have you applied to Epic before? Located in Verona and looking for developers, .NET being a plus right now...

Though Epic is a good skillset to have, I'm not sure you'll want to actually work for them. Ask around. Also, if you are over 30 yrs old, chances are very slim you'd get an interview. They tend to hire young, 4.0 students from any degree program and then make them into their own version of a developer. Standard .NET practices need not apply.

My company is looking for a project manager, IT helpdesk intern, and BI programmer.
I know of a company in Green Bay seeking a .NET developer. If you're interested, I can forward your resume along.

Sorry man.  Been there recently.  Got laid off just before Christmas.  Was very lucky to get a job within a couple of months.

Shoot some guns.  Have a beer.  Get some perspective.  Update resume.

Thanks everyone!

I am avoiding EPIC as I have had dealings with them before...but I may open up to it later if I can't find anything.

I'm not interested in moving(at the moment anyway) because my entire family and my daughter who is primarily placed with her mother are in this area.

Keep your chin up; I had to quit my job last October, and after a month and a half, I found a job I LOVE with a great company, and a few months later my former position was eliminated anyways, so had I not left when I did, I'd be looking regardless along with 35 of my highly-skilled friends!  These things work out if you've got skill and determination, so update your resume tomorrow, and keep a working schedule while looking for a job.

I also found daily exercise helped with morale for sure.  Godspeed; there ARE good jobs out there.

Am I the only laughing at the Epic recommendations? When I was in college some 10 years ago, epic was known for hiring developers out of college, paying them poorly, and working them 60+ hours a week. As far as I know this still holds true today.

eclark, There are jobs out there for developers. I can hook you up with a good recruiter if you would like. Just PM me if you are interested.I don't know what the Madison area is like but Milwaukee area is going to a pretty significant growth in the Software/IT world.

That's pretty much spot-on from what I have heard. Also a 24 month non-compete pretty much dries up your ability to work elsewhere with your experience.

Wouldnt worry too much about non compete clauses. When I did pest control one of the techs left and started his own company the next week. We had a 2 yr non compete we signed. His lawyer said theres nothing they can do as long as he is not actively going after clients of the company he left for 2 yrs.

Ayup - non-competes generally don't have teeth in WI.
