I had read some of the blogs that he mentions in the article and was hoping he or someone else would come up with a good rebuttal to the blogs. Much like him I'm neither liberal nor conservative and find the hypocrisy in politics rather childish. But I digress, here is his rebuttal and explanation of his positions. I have to say as an avid hunter I feel much better now.
Deer Management Aritcle |
In 1983, I decided to be a forester. I wound up at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and my first college class was with Dr. Kroll. I learned three things from that class:
He's a decent guy, and he doesn't suffer fools gladly. P. |

My dad called me up tonight, telling me that Walker plans to privatize all hunting land, and that permits will be in the thousands. I think there are a lot of folks who are truly interested in seeing our state's public land kept public, and our wildlife managed properly. I don't know enough sadly of what's going on to say if my dad's right to believe what he's hearing and seeing. Anyone else have some input on this? |

Maybe he just wants to get rid of the overly fat DNR and figures privatization is more American than the state owning way too much land and putting it on the tax payer to manage it and then treating tax payers like peasants? As long as they dont sell the land the China or California or Mexico Here's what Doc Kroll says: HUNTERS RIGHTS COALITION STATEMENT ON DEER TRUSTEE RUMORS May 31, 2012 In recent days, chain emails and uninformed bloggers have made outrageous claims regarding Wisconsin’s Deer Trustee Dr. James C. Kroll, some going so far as to suggest Governor Walker and Dr. Kroll would privatize public hunting lands in Wisconsin. The Hunters Rights Coalition would like to go on the record and state that NONE of these claims have any validity. |

Absolutely untrue the DNR under his direction is doing a lot better and has been looking at DNR landsand how to best use public dollars they've bought a lot of new land since he's been elected, the DNR has also said that they will look at lands that are not doing the public any service by being inaccessible land locked blocks of property there's more public hunting grounds since Walkers been elected, more public land open to hunting since walker has been elected, more private land enrolled into access programs since he's been elected, he kept his word about listening to hunters about the deer herd management problems in this state he definitely stands with all outdoorsman. |

The hated "earn-a-buck" is gone too. I'm just flabbergasted as to how anyone can believe the anti-Walker crap that's obviously last-minute desperation tactics by the Dems. Wow, there actually are people who believe state lands would, or even could, be "privatized" because of concerns over deer hunting??? What does "privatize" mean? It means selling them to private parties, or taking access away from the public and putting control into private hands. Yeah, right. Because Dr. Deer "allegedly" says it's good for the deer? (NOT). Sheesh. It'd take a flaming liberal, card carrying PETA member as the governor to even consider such an outlandish idea... and Walker certainly isn't even close to that. Did he or did he not sign a wolf hunting bill?

Saw some BS like this being handed out at the Princeton flea market this weekend. I rolled my eyes and kept walking. Walker turned me into a newt. |

I have no doubt it's last minute scare tactics. He's retiring this year from the school district, and I hope once he's out of there, he'll calm down a bit. He was never this agitated with politics until this last year, and he knows my brother and I, along with our families, will be voting for Walker. |

Has made conversations... interesting... over the last year. I still remember watching the news one night when I was in middle school I think, and I made a comment that the government can't be expected to solve and do everything for everyone - and he patted me on the back, and said "congratulations, you're a Republican!". |
Also, something that was well timed to come out today:Recall challenger Tom Barrett says "Scott Walker has a plan to |

Our new Texas deer czar comes from a state that is 5 times the size of Wisconsin yet Wisconsin has 7 times the acreage of public hunting lands.
http://www.freehuntingland.com/wi/maps/wi_dnr_lands.php Texas public hunting grounds are few and scattered and under lots of pressure. Most hunters lease land or hunt private reserves for $$$$ http://www.buckmanager.com/2009/04/27/hunting-land-in-texas-is-shrinking Here is some stuff going thru TX right now Key points of Senate Bill 1742 and House Bill 3766: For hunting with rifles and pistols, tracts must be 50 acres or larger. << Something like that in WI would screw a lot of folks out of hunting SOURCE: Texas Legislature I hope Wisconsin continues to promote public hunting grounds and the Texas style of hunting stays in Texas. |

The Hunters Rights Coalition would like to go on the record and state that NONE of these claims have any validity. Who ya gonna believe a bunch of commie liars whose technique is to "push the lie hard enough and often enough until it breaks through and becomes the truth" or the honest folks of Wisconsin who aren't a bunch of socialist union thugs or their minions? Civil Rights activists Reverend Jesse Jackson from Chicago and Al Sharpton from New York, both aligned with the Democratic Party, will be in Milwaukee, the state's largest city, to try to spur a strong turnout by black voters. ACORN's version of strong voter turnout.....from graveyards the dead vote and they vote often Walker NRA Rating A+ Barrett NRA Rating F too bad the NRA doesn't give out F- ratings as that would be Barrett's true place |

Please don't spread these types of rumurs about Texas. These bills were passed over 3 years ago and only give certain municipalities with large populations (think cities) the ability to restrict hunting to shotguns, muzzleloaders, and archery tackle and these bills PREVENT small municipalities from enacting those types of restrictions. You might recall that most of SE Wisconsin is shotgun, muzzleloader, and archery only and while I think it's a poor law, it certainly doesn't screw anyone out of hunting. I spent a lot of time hunting in Ozaukee County with my trusty 870 and Matthews bow. I really wish I was still up der north to vote in this election with ya'll! |
