| i posted this in the browning pistol forum but no reply's figured id check with you guys. My old man had a browning buckmark standard with the 5.5in slab side barrel its roughly 15 years if not more old. the only thing that i know is wrong with it is the mag release is shot. id like to buy it from him but whats a fair offer. he paid 280 for it new way back when and now i see new ones are in the 350-450 range. so what do you guys think if i give him 100-150 am i being cheap or is that a good price. |

I would say 150-200 is fair. I have seen a few used ones goes between friends for around that price. Did he offer to give it to you and you feel guilty just taking it, or does he need the cash?
A quick brownells search looks like ~20 in parts for mag release parts. edit: I really like the slabside look |

I think $100 is cheap. When I buy something off my dad I look at what EE has them for or Gunbroker. I tell him the slightly inflated value and he gives me HIS price. He's always treated me very fairly, but if I offered him $100 for his Buckmark, he'd probably just laugh at me. And then not sell me his pistol. ![]() I'd let him pay the $40 for the mag release, then offer him a fair price. To me a fair price on a decent looking Buckmark would be around $200. YMMV. |

YMMV. +1) I got the chance to shoot one of these at the range a few week ago and loved it. Been watching around since then hoping to pick one up. I'd say this looks to be right and reasonable! |

They are great shooters!!! Love my dads. Problem is, he'll be 80 in June. And now he's talking about giving me his guns "because I'm getting too old for them". I don't want them this way. In my mind, my dads still that 40 something bear of a man. He can't be getting that old. |
