Well, I finally broke down and bought a gas range for the kitchen.  Problem is, I don't have a gas line in place for the stove.

Does anyone know a reasonably priced plumber in the Fox Valley who could run a gas line less than 10' for a new stove?

Dale black pipe is easy. With your talent you should be able to do it assuming you have a hardware sfore that will cut it to the lengths you need.  Use yellow gas tape, or gas rated dope. A proper shot off at the appliance, and adebris trap and you're good to go.

if you have a home depot close by they cut pipe free .. just be sure to use windex to check for leaks when done (im no pro, but i did move some piping in my house to make room for a pool table and i checked this way for leaks, same as i do for air ride suspensions when i do installs in cars, will bubble where air/gas is coming out)

I just redid my gas line so it would reach the new location for the washer/dryer, and to make it more efficient.

Black pipe, yellow, gas rated thread dope, and repeated trips back to the store to get the CORRECT lengths of pipe you actually need.

You can make your own leak detector with water and dish soap and spray bottle, or buy a little bottle of leak detector which is probably the same thing.

I've heard of the gas company doing these kinds of things for free too, just to get a gas customer, or to get them to spend more.

Unfortunately I am on the road most of the time so I really don't have time to do it my self.

Also, I'm an electrician, not a plumber and am not real comfortable around natural gas so I'd rather have a pro do it.

Smart man... Clint Eastwood always told me a Man should know his limitations... We had Christensen Heating out of Appleton do our Install for a furnace and Gas Water heater back in 99 when we bought our house and converted over from Fuel oil. We had him run a gas line and cap it under the electric stove with the intend that when the electric stove died, we would replace with Gas... and that fucker is still working..

They did good work and were reasonable. I've used them since and have always been satisfied..I would leave something that can potential blow my house up, to a professional.....but that's just me...
