Remodelling the store.  THey will be open again later this fall (I forget when exactly).

I don't know how they've managed to keep operating this long. Every time I go past it the lot is empty. I went inside once. The prices were high, store was dated, and the I wasn't impressed with the selection. I haven't had any urge to go back.

In a down economy I wouldn't pick them to weather the storm. I'm stunned that they're investing a remodel. Someone must have made a really impressive bunch of power point slides to sell corporate on that one.

The only thing i go there for is used guns - i've gotten a couple of really good deals there....like someone screwed up on the pricing.  Lately though, even those have dried up.

closing during the busiest time of the year for renovation?  Some big wig at Gander must have threw there retarded brother-in-law a bone and gave him a job as manager at this store.

This was my first thought. I bet all the people that work there are glad to get layed off right during the best time of year to be out in the woods or shooting ducks or what not.
