| Does the 48 hour wait period for handguns include weekends? Or is it weekdays only. |
|
48 hours means 48 hours. 175.35 Waiting period for purchase of handguns.
(2) When a firearms dealer sells a handgun, he or she may not transfer possession of that handgun to any other person until all of the following have occurred:(d) Forty−eight hours, subject to extension under sub. (2g) (c) 4. c., have elapsed from the time that the firearms dealer has received a confirmation number regarding the firearms restrictions record search under sub. (2g) (c) from the department of justice and the firearms dealer has not been notified that the transfer would be in violation of s. 941.29. |

Hopefully my 48 hour wait wont turn into a 6 day wait again because they were swamped and took that long to give my FFL a confirmation number. Your dealer didn't call them back? Maybe you need a new dealer? Who would you recommend ? Since you asked. www.dfsguns.com |

I should talk to them about the upcoming arf-shoot, we'll put their name right under Magpul. |

One of the best meat markets in Wisconsin is located near there. It's pernat/Haase Meats and they have the best venison sausage i've ever tasted and the prices are resonable. It's just west on 60 near hustisford. Hey Flame where's my PMR-30? Is it really venison? I heard the Hustisford area is overrun by cats. |

Hey Flame where's my PMR-30? If I could get my hands on just a few I could sell them all. I have 5 customers drooling and clamering to get their hands on them. Along with the Kel-tec shotgun that is going to come out some time this decade.

There's no wait period for rifles, correct? So an AR lower for example, no wait period? Correct. There is one outfit out there still trying to claim that there is a waiting period becautse it can be made into a pistol. They will make you fill out the handgun form and make you pay the extre fee. Idon't however remember who they are and they should be ashamed of themselves for the flat out bullshit lie they are telling. |

Hmm. cheaper handgun transfer fee... 45 minute drive sucks though :( Yeah sorry man. It's a sceanic drive while you collect your thoughs, or plan your next word domination attempt. It was a ~1.5 hr drive for me each way, but worth it. same here |

are they going to get rid of this soon? you'd think having a valid CC permit would negate the requirement for a cooling off period. Or how about if I show up at the gun shop with a big bag of pistols that I already own. How does cooling off make any sense for a guy who already has more pistols than he can carry. |
|
How does cooling off make any sense .
The law has nothing to do with "cooling off". The point is to make buying a handgun enough of a PITA that people are discouraged from doing so. I can recall several instances where I would have bought one, but was out of town and didn't want the hassle of making a second trip two days later. In each of those instances the libtards won! |

Exactly. I've been there myself, several times. Same goes for buying at a weekend gun show. If the seller is from out of town (as 99% of them are if you're up north) they'll leave it with a local FFL for you to pick up 48 hrs later. Then you learn it'll cost you an extra $25-35 to the local FFL for the transfer. Not blaming the FFL who does the transfer... their time is worth something too. I blame the stupid law, a 2nd FFL doesn't need to get involved if I pass the background check at the point of sale. |

I don't remember; what year did the 48 hour wait come into effect, and what were the cirumstances of this passing? It seems like a stupid law, just like the CA, IL and other states that make you wait. What is stupid is the fact that Federal law does not require any waiting period after a NICS check yet WI insists on wasting money on a State DOJ background check and keeping the useless waiting period. I can take possession of a C&R 9mm Luger instantly but I have to wait 48 hours for a new production handgun chambered in the same 9mm caliber??? How about the stupidity that the 48 hour wait applies even if you are trading in another handgun....

How about a 48 hour "cooling off" period before you rape someone. Or rob a bank. Or have a beer. a "cooling off" period is comical at best, and outright criminal at worst. |

I didn't get your first statement in reply to my post so I edited my reply to make it more clear that I was pointing out the stupidity of having a 48 hour waiting period regardless if you already own handguns.... |

Maybe my statement of agreement was worded weird. I'm saying that any waiting period is stupid. If someone wants to break a law, they will do it, regardless of any legal requirement. So you want to kill someone, but can't get a handgun cause of that pesky 48 hour wait. Oh well...there's no waiting period on butcher knives, or baseball bats. [joking] Maybe if we had a 48 hour waiting period before drinking, there would be less DUI related accidents. [/joking] |
