Alright, if a the Constitutional Carry law would pass tomorrow, what handgun, that you already own, would you strap on?

For myself, a XD9 Service and a spare mag.

Wonder if comp tac has a IWB holster for that ?

If budget allows, that custom Barretta RoboCop had, along with a cyborg leg to store it in.

If I can't gather the funds for that, probably an S&W M&P 45 compact.

For everyday carry, Glock 19 in either my Crossbreed Supertuck in summer or Blackhawk Serpa in winter.

But it won't change my OC gun for "woods walking". That has been, and will remain, a Ruger Blackhawk, 4 5/8' barrel, in .45 LC.

Considering how crappy the weather is today, a G21 under the coat would be fine.  In our family we tend to use G19's on a regular basis.

WI gun dealers will sell a lot of guns in a lot of variations  along with holsters to a long denied hungry CCW public.  For walking around all day with a "kit", even in very rough terrain, I love the Kbar TDI fanny pack.  In mine I put a G19 or 21, 2 spare mags, mace, TLR1 light, tool logic SL3 folding knife, lighter, spare wallet, extra batteries.

I've been carrying a Kahr E-9 in my murse as needed. And would probably still do as needed. But will upgrade to Carrying my 226 in .357sig on my body via my Fist  IWB.  And when i get a new holster for my Kahr K-9 that would be my daily carry gun.. Unless it gets traded off for something else.

For everyday carry I would have my Seacamp .32 in my back pocket as it's samll and easy to conceal compared to even the compact 380's and 9mm's.  If I really felt the need for somethinga little more and was wearing a coat I would carry my HK P7.

What do you mean by spare wallet? Aside from the extra cash, do you have a full on set of second credit cards, ID, etc? Just wondering –– I've been thinking about making some sort of smaller EDC pack as well vs the big get home bag always carried in the trunk. I bought a heavily discounted Eberlestock Halftrack to replace that –– which originally was a cheap but large bag from the "bag guy" at the Bob & Rocco shows. That bag was a deal at 15 bucks or so but ended up being a POS (shocker!). I continue to learn that buy once cry once is absolutely true. I was looking at the more expensive Eberlestock bags with the detachable "fanny man packs" on the top but didn't go that route. I'd like to have a small collection of stuff but not quite sure the best way to carry it around in a manly non-fondue sort of way. Never been a fan of manny packs or the messenger bag type of thing but who knows. Concealed carry will kick this project into gear.

Keep threatening!

Yeah, I'd participate in the fondue for a stab at the rest of the menu.

Shit, I just felt my pinky finger stick out a little. nooooooooo

On a serious note, G19 Gen 3 and maybe the *-tac with oversized pants but I'm not yet convinced on that concept for big boys.

Time for holster shopping.  I was belt shopping at Streichers for 5.11 days but didn't find anything that worked for me.  Did get a pair of pants.  It was picked over heavily.

I only own a full sized 1911 so far...

It'll have to do until I can pick out a new one. I used to have a Glock-22, but I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. For some reason I'm dead nuts with my 1911.  I've been doing a lot of reading on what I might carry and it's down to a Springfield XDM compact, Ruger LCP or Kel-Tec PF9. Price may decide on the Kel-Tec for me, but I want to have a chance to shoot them all before I choose. I've shot a Colt Defender before and if I had the $800 laying around, that might be a good candidate too

That is the question I have also. None, TommyTrauma and FMD are all little guys. Flame is once in a while too. They can get by with the *-Tac holsters. Not sure it would work either with us large bodies. I think we're going to have to stick with the Man Packs. Look at it this way, we can carry a few extra Snickers for when these skinny bastards are out of energy...

I am willing to pony up and try one of the *-Tac's out so we'll see what happens. Anyone sell them locally? Before the rush that is.

See, I have an um, medical condition, called a Fatabellius Glockicular Interference Zone where the fat roll would interfere with the IWB holster placement.

I have enough trouble finding pants and shirts that fit "right" just because my legs are short and torso/arms extra long. Shirts must be tall sized.

Just to clarify the pics below –– the Moobs are courtesy of the light rain. Yeah. Optical illusion from the rain on the lens. Really.

I'm the guy on the left if you are confused.

Guess we're stuck with this...

Same gun I carried when I lived in a carry state.....

My snubby S&W 686.......

If the day come when 6 rounds, and setting anyone within 3 feet of the muzzle on fire does not do it.... i should have fought my way to my rifle long before I ran out of ammo and deserve what I get. Besides it is the most natural pointing gun I have ever shot. 6 hits are worth vastly more than 15 misses

I rock a PF9 in a SmartRcarry holster for at the beach and pretty much whenever I can't wear a belt, G19 + CTAC.

It's very "hard" to shoot if your hands are out of condition, just plain weak or injured, add blood, mud, excess sweat and it is worse. I like to think I have strong hands and it is a SESSION to get through 200 rounds with that pistol. I mix random dummy and (my aged) carry rounds (Fed XST) in with my practice ball, and when I hit one of the XSTs I feel the love.

After I shoot the PF9, rockin the G26 is child's play, transitioning to a G19  or 17 is like fluid drive.

Kydex sleeve from Grandfather Oak for the 'floating carry', all you need is velcro...:

Nice! Thanks for all the pictures and info. I really gotta try some out before I make any decision on what to buy. A while back there had been talk of a HTF CCW pistol demo day. With a CCW law being a near lock at this point, perhaps it's time to explore that idea again so we can all get a crack at trying something out before we all spend money on anything new. Some demo holsters and stuff would be helpful too since I have no idea how to hide a pistol on a husky guy aside from what the internet has shown me.

Ok, I don't want to make anyone sexually uncomfortable in a guns and leather thread!

Also in my man ass-pack kit there is about a 1"x9" length of cotton cloth (50 cal patch material) impregnated with vaseline wrapped around the flint in the tool logic knife.  There is always room for a triox bar, of which I keep multiples stashed in my drivers side door pocket.  Grab one as I step out of truck, stuff in ass-kit as needed.  (stuff and ass don't mix well either).  At home it hangs in a corner in the master bedroom on the lower hook of a stainless steel coat hook mounted by my dresser, windbreaker on top hook over it, 870 in corner next to it.  It looks better than a drop leg holster hanging on the headboard.

FYI that ass-pack is also designed to be opened with one hand when you are wearing it (that's what she said).  IMHO that is a key feature in any ass-pack you buy for CCW.

Holster brands I like:  Blade Tech, Safariland, Galco and the UCR at threatsolutions.com is my next holster

For quick strap on carry (strap on can be sexual too, sorry) I love Galco's version of the wilderness belt with any holster on it.  Wilderness, Uncle Mike's and Blackhawk have good belts.

I have an old wallet that is kind of slim and particularly tough but a bit worn out for daily use.  I keep it in the ass-pack with some cash, a spare truck and house key, low limit CC and a spare copy of my carry permit, one or two flat survival type tools.  A few very small, empty ziplock bags.  Then if I am traveling I will toss in fishing, hunting licenses, additional cash, CC's, drivers license or other things as needed and leave my daily wallet in the hotel, truck, camp, friends house.  If I am at a hotel I always get at least 2 room keys.

Basically it is a grab and go personal defense kit that works for my routine.  So it is weapons, fire, cash and maybe a few carbs in a gel or powerbar.

It does not take the place of CCW, vehicle or pocket guns.  All of which are of course illegal in WI

For me, a pocket gun looks like the best solution.  I don't like IWB, just for comfort sake...ankle might be ok, but seems pretty awkward if you actually needed it.

I'm leaning toward the S&W Bodyguard .in .380 Auto with a pocket holster.  Come on and get that law enacted!

I've been meaning to handle one of those.  I just liked the LCP –– not knocking the alternates –– it just seems like the fit/finish/quality is there.  Pairs nicely with some of the pocket holsters and with the right ammo choice, I think it works.

Of course, I still need the option for something more depending on where I am heading.  Certain warzones neighborhoods in Milwaukee would dictate loading for bear.

Yeah, no doubt on needing more at certain times.  I'll mostly likely have my CZ-75 in .40S&W or full size Springfield 1911 for bag or car carry.  The pocket gun would just be an on-the-person option for me.I really do like the LCP as well.  I've fired both the S&W and the LCP and both handled nicely, even in my bear paws.  The S&W is just a little thinner, which is why I'd lean that way.  However, the LCP is readily available and the S&W is near impossible to find right now.

I have Blackhawk stuff I like, but beware of or just avoid all together Serpa holsters with the lock.

Why avoid the locks? I have several of those and like them a lot.

When the lock gets gummed up and sticks your gun is not coming out.  It has happened, you decide but WHY even have that as a possibility of happening.  Not like there is a lot of sand blowing around in WI but in some places there sure as hell is some sand and 40mph winds to go with it like the other day here

Screw magnesium bars but I will shave it ahead of time and put shavings in a film can or stick it in duct tape or put duct tape on the film can to use with the shavings.  Magnesium and duct tape are pretty close to a homemade triox bar.  Shaving that stuff in the wind is a pain and will dull your knife so keep a hunk of old hacksaw blade with it.  The blade makes a better spark on the striker too.

You can also just put in a small squeeze tube of vaseline or carmex lip balm.  Multi purpose.

Hmmm?  My ass pack has vaseline in it.  I never read it that way before.

I "fondled" both of the S&W Bodyguards (the .380 semi-auto & the .38 snubbie) at a local gun shop, but didn't get to fire either. I liked the revolver better... more for my big hands to grip. It's my next purchase.

I do have the Kel-Tec P3AT with the Crimson Trace Laserguard. I didn't much care for it, because of the almost non-existant sights, until I put the laser on it. It makes a huge differance. So does the mag extension with the extra finger grip. It's plenty accurate enough for "up close & personal", but with hefty self-defense loads (like Corbon... which is what's in both mags currently) recoil is "harsh". After about 20 rounds of heavy loads at the range, I'm done with it for the day. FWIW... I bought a Nemesis pocket holster, before I added the laser. With the laser, it still fits in the Nemesis, but it's a little tighter. Not too tight so you can't draw it (I thought it was too loose without the laser).

...and reading back through the thread, I see that Unique1 wants to try the same.

If I can find a decent holster for it my S&W 457 and extra mag. Sig P229 is perhaps just a bit wider than I'd prefer.
