I was out there burning up some .22  ammo. and i noticed some things that really burnt me up. First off there was crap all over the new pistol range. there was a old light fixture someone who couldn't pick up there laptop computer. and some sort of speaker box. Which proved to be a really good target stand. I picked the stuff up. but before i could throw it out some more people decided they wanted to shoot the old lab top hopefully they picked it up. but what really burns me up is that some ass hole thought he needed to shot the ATV only sign. more then once so it wasn't an accident. its just really stupid stuff like that, that upsets me. There used  to be a few rules and one of them was clean up after yourself. Is that really that hard.  i would really hate to see some of these peoples houses if they cant pick up after them selfs on someone Else's land how well do they take care  of there own house. and there are dumpsters out there as well so it would be really easy to pick up your stuff but nope cant be done

I will get off my soap box now

I guess the guy from Hartland moved up there.

Sorry to hear it, some people have no problem ruining a good thing for everyone else.

Yep and then the same idiots get upset when new rules have to pop up.  This is why we can't have nice things!

Of course, that upsets me too, but only such that I would like to go "correct" the idiots.

Speaking of new rules, didn't they implement some new rules regarding what can be targets or on the ground or what not?  I thought there was a thread about that not long ago.

I have to finish (start) the Saiga 12 conversion and then I am due to make a drive up that way for a day or two.

Bring a garbage bag and pick up twice what you left. I know it sucks, and it pisses me off to no end but some fucktards out there have no respect and wont change. They show up with their hi-points and Ruger P85's shooting gangsta style and not hitting a damn thing. Then they load up their shit into their 500.00 car with no plates and leave. My son and I usually have no problem filling up a small garbage bag when we leave, and it only takes another 10 minutes to pick up a bit.

well i didn't see the new rules posted. I tryed to stick to mostly non ground targets but  when there is crap laying all over the place i tend to shoot at it. there were somethings there that were still frozen to the ground so i shot at them. there were some people who were having a great time on the long range rifle range shooing up some old DVD players and having a great time and the greatest part is that they picked up there mess how hard can it be when there is about 8 people all opening fire at one DVD player into bits and can manage to pick it up i think everyone can pick up there messes.

ETA.

there was alot of bump fireing and the the shiocton PD came out to see if everyhting was in check but he didnt get out of his car and walk the range to see what was going on so really all of the rules could have been broken and he wouldnt have known

That always pisses me off, I usually spend an extra half hour picking up at the public range outside of Wautoma when I shoot out there.. some people's children!

As much as it sucks, yes, this is the best answer for you to ensure that the place remains a good place to shoot.

My father taught me some valuable lessons such as this over the years.

They are the ones supposed to be enforcing the rules.  There is supposed to be absolutely zero ground shooting and only shooting at paper targets.  Someone shooting at the ground on the shotgun/pistol range is how we had incoming rounds twice last year when we were checking our targets.  I have to drop off a check this week for the Appleseed reservation in June and I will be talking to the Chief when I am there. In the past we allowed the shotgun range to be open during an Appleseed but I am going to insist on the whole range being closed since we are paying for it.

Probably a good idea regardless if you are paying for the range.

It would be nice to have clarification regarding what no ground targets and paper only.  Does that mean we can't bring proper steel targets or auto-poppers?

I know what the intent probably is/was but would be interested in the actual rule to be enforced.

Yeah having the entire range closed for that shoot would be the best. Also the new rules should be posted if they haven't already. I didn't look that hard for them or they had the same signs made up to look just like the ones with the old rules on it. Had i not been there with my group of friends they would have had no idea new rules were in place so it would have just been business as usual. appliances shot up( i always picked up my mess heck there are dumpsters right there)  a lot more ground shooting. and then a good old leave the range cleaner then i found it and hope in my car pay my fee and feel so much better about life while driveing home

People have no respect, and that goes for gunowners too.

I don't understand the comment about people shooting their Hi-Points and Rugers.  What difference does the brand make?

I know a police range that was closed to the public after someone thought it would be a good idea to shoot up the PD's steel targets with their expensive 7mm magnum deer rifle.  After ruining over a thousand dollars of steel––which couldn't be replaced because of budget issues––the shooter didn't even bother to pick up his brass.

Of course, there's the other clown who decided that the hand-built, paid-out-of-range-instructor's-own-pocket moving target system should be ripped down and strewn all over the ground.  But maybe he was carrying a Hi-Point?

And people wonder why there are so few ranges open to the public.  It amazes me that Shiocton and Yellowstone are still there.

It is like certain instances of racial profiling. It's wrong and I may not like it but when you look at the numbers......

Though really just the Hi-Points*, not the Rugers.

Fingerprint that brass!

Because there are more and more stupid people each day and unfortunately the number of people not being raised correctly increases each year. And no, he was carrying a Glock, though it was stuffed in his low pants wearing exposed underwear and had those special side-mount sights? Or not.

And people wonder why there are so few ranges open to the public. It amazes me that Shiocton and Yellowstone are still there.

I agree.

Hawzwood owns a Hi-Point carbine and CX4 knock-off stock kit he picked up for a song when he was previously enamored with the Beretta though it hasn't been shot one time or even assembled since purchasing almost two years ago. Hawzwood is a procrastinator. Hawzwood also owns a Ruger LCP and does not see the connection, finding it to be a nice little piece of engineering that really wasn't inexpensive (relatively speaking), nor finds it in any way "ghetto fabulous" though he expects that Flamethrower could pimp it up for him upon request, payment and provision of an As-Seen-On-TV Bedazzler kit. Hawzwood finds it creepy to be talking about Hawzwood in the third person.

I have noticed. that the cheaper the gun. the less respect a person has. this is not aways the case. but there is a reason there are stereotypes is because there is enough of a trend to have them. seems like every time I'm out there and i see some guy with a shooting bench full of high points he always a dick.  not having common courtesy for other peoples safety or there hearing.

Anther question i had is if the Officer comes out there and sees something that is a violation of the rules is he gonna ticket people? Or are they just now driving out there as kind of a scare tactic just to say you better follow the rules because I'm watching you, like parking an extra squad car on the side of the road where there are speeders just to slow them down by intimidating them?

Nothing wrong with a Hi-Point carbine. My buddy owns one, and it goes bang every time he pulls the trigger, never ever jams, and it usually hits what he's aiming at. It's uglier than sin, kinda like a car made in 1950s Russia. But it works, is cheap, and has a high "fun-factor". And believe it or not, their customer service is top notch. He screwed something up when he broke it down for cleaning, and called the factory for help. They told him to just send it in and they'd fix it. Sure enough, within two weeks he got it back, good as new... no charge except shipping it to the factory.

They now make it in .45acp, and the newly designed stock looks a lot better.... if there were any magazines available that held more than 9 rounds, I'd buy one immediately.

Wautoma is really clean compared to shiocton.

Were going out on Saturday at about noon to celebrate the 1911 if anyone wants to join.

Will probably pick up a lot of junk to help clean up too.

I'm bringing boots this time. Last time I wore sneakers and couldn't really walk anywhere.

There is a public range in wautoma. It's probably closed for the winter at this time.

I forget exactly which road it's off of.
