'upper rra lower with the mag block rock river arms brand   and i'm using colt 20 and 32 rd mags tried 7 different mags different ammo still the same thing happening.

does anyone know about these problems i was told the mag block might be the problem   but what other choice do i have?

IDK.. I've never had a problem with my RRA setup using the polymer mags.

I just got some C-product mags and they make the bolt hang up.

Well, fisr let's try to deal with the mags.  When the rifle is split, put teh mags in the lower, do they lock in firmly and all the way?
As far as stovepipes, what kind of ammo?  How far do the empties eject?

I had a RRA 9mm for a while and I had the same problem with the mag block. I used C-product and colt mags with S&B ammo.

I sold the RRA mag block and got a Hahn mag block and that fixed it for me.

I have since sold that AR, I wish I hadn't.

Oh well it just gives me an excuse to do another build.

i'm using umc 115fmj and federal 115 fmj   mags do lock in tight until you start shooting  i am comparing to my colt 9mm  and i'msmoothing out the feed ramp a little it looks as if the colt is smoother and flatter.   i will try to match the rra mag block to that.   alos it didn't seem like the bolt had enough power to cycle back   i am using the rra 9mm buffer  i don't know about the spring?   i also have a magpul crt stock on it

Well, these things are usually worked out easier in person, and fortunately, since you mentioned Stallis, there are several folks nearby who can help.

Does the BC feel like it's binding as you cycle it?  Tried a carbine buffer?

i polished the feed ramp but manually cycling  caused it to jam  now if i use the colt mag that has a different feed ramp it is more straight it cylcled ok   out in the field maybe a different story?  thanks for any advice

I have been building ARs since 1992 and have NEVER had a 9mm build work like a factory Colt.

I turned a factory Colt into an SBR and have NEVER had a hiccup...with her, all magaines, ammo, with and without a Gemtech Raptor.

A Hahn dedicated block, RRA upper and old Colt (Metalform) mags are the only thing that works 100% in my upper.  CP mags are too tight, and a converted uzi mag failed a few times.

One of these days I will get another 9mm. I might look into getting a Colt. I have 2 builds in process right now so it will be a while.

Variable, have you had any experience with .45 acp ARs?

i have 2 rra 9mm setups, one pistol and one carbine. i built them both and use a Garrison Mfg. top loading block. they look a lot like the rra block. i had issues on the pistol with stove pipes and it drove me nutty. i looked close @ the carbine i built and ended up switching the blocks and it was the block. after looking i noticed the ejector was slightly bent toward the inside of the rifle on the bad block.  i bent it out to match the good block and its 100% now. after about 2k rounds still not an issue. that could be the ejection issue but the mag thing is hard to tell. i have 8 colt mags stamped "government use only" on them and about 30 of the promag plastic mags and they all run 100%. i would try rra for help and if that dont work, try another mag block mfg. good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Seems like with 9MM setups the down fall is usually the magazines used.

I switched from a UZI mag and VM Hy-tech mag block, because I had so many problems with them.  Using cheap mags was probably a lot of it.

I then went to a RRA mag block, and ProMag poly mags, and I honestly have never had 1 problem.  If I did, I don't remember it.  The ProMag's are brittle and cracked on the top where it curves in on a few of mine, but they still function. I think ProMag will replace mine.

I just recently got some C-product mags and they are very tight, I'm not sure if it will cycle because the mag seems to cause the bolt to hang up.

i talked to rra today one of their technicians   explained to me about the mag block and the extractor  my extractor wasn't quite close enough to the bolt and needed to be bent over  my mag catch could be worn already not even 100rds through gun yet  so i ordered a new mag catch and most importantly i need a carr spring instead of a standard spring.   we will try these improvements and see what happens   lifetime warranty i love it.
thanks for all the advice i will post results when i get back to the range

As a kid (1980s) I was lucky enough to shoot the hell out of an AR that used Grease gun mags (Olympic if I remember).

It never had a hiccup but I have never seen one since. They were doing ALOT of T&E at Valor Arms back in Pittsbugh where I grew up.

I never had any luck with any other configurations.
