well, by now everyone probably knows how it ended. a robot approached the stolen car(that broke down on I94), punched a hole in the window, and an officer put what looked like a tear gas grenade inside.

around 9 am my friend and i were talking about how this situation will be handled.
i provided two pictures as my response.

i'm glad this ended safely for everyone involved, however IMO they should have deployed the robot and gas at 5 am when there was not many drivers on the road, or close off both directions, deploy the gas and remove the vehicle ASAP.

either way, well done to all the officers involved.

I would have volunteered to pop the glass and toss in the pain fog after about 20 minutes given the overall circumstances.

Hey now.  Can't go old school when you have new and expensive toys to play with.  I mean how would it look on national tv a cop and a sling shot or a ROBOT.  We have an image the Mayor wants the world to see and sling shots just will not do it.

Nevermind that Milwaukee is one of the poorest cities in the nation, they have a robot!

Consider they didn't know whether or not the subject was armed, (they certainly have every reason to believe he was).
And they didn't know the status of the passenger, (hostage or 2nd suspect).
And it was a barricaded subject, (SWAT or TEU usually handles those type of calls), in a vehicle with heavily tinted windows.
Being out in the open like that amongst traffic like that had to have complicated things.

I'm glad to see no one was a cowboy.
The most important thing to remember is that they got their man and no one got hurt.

we would look like the cops who resolved the situation in 5 minutes not 5 hours
