Anyone know of any good GSD and Lab breeders?

Looking at one of the two breeds for my next dog but don't know any breeders to talk to other than a google search...

Looking for recommendations.

Thanks!

I have a friend who rescued a GSD through this outfit: http://kenlynkennels.com/german-shepherds

They also breed there, and have a great reputation. I got my GSD from a different rescue, but when I'm ready for another, I'll likely go to Kenlyn. They're located near Edgerton, which is between Madison and Milwaukee.

We love Labs and got our most recent dog here:

Our dog Cooper is wonderful.

My only suggestion is you research some of the common puppy personality tests.  They were critical to our selection.

www.petfinder.com frequently has puppies of both breeds with solid bloodlines, but usually no papers.

Regarding puppies and temperment; the only dogs I have ever met that were out of control were that way because the owner didn't know how to work/train the dog, or hadn't tried.  A puppy personality test is a good idea, but I wouldn't base any decision solely on that.

A dog is a reflection of the time you have invested in him/her.  They have to be built, not bought.

My friend breeds his labs, with excellent lines.... www.mississippimudkennels.com  Not sure if and or when he is planning another litter

When I've had GSD's in the past, they have all come from http://www.jerland.com/home.html

I'll agree with a previous poster, a lot of benefits come to rescuing a dog as well, though I personally haven't 'rescued' any, though I did temporarily foster a couple.

Get a hunting poodle.  No shedding and an amazingly smart dog.  They were bred for hunting and the hunting breed is coming back.

We got our lab from Ganderland Labradors which is just outside the Horicon Marsh.  Great dog and the price was right.  Lots to choose from and most are hip and eye certified and have master hunters in their bloodlines.
