My sister has offered to take me on a road trip to celebrate my graduation from college.
One of the ideas I'm kicking around is going to the Dells. I haven't been in about 10 years, and last time I went, it was in the middle of February so we couldn't do stuff like the Ducks, so one thing to do. What do you think of the shows? There used to be a 50s restaurant on the outskirts of town but the last guidebook I got the last time I was in WI didn't have it listed. Anyone know if it's still there? This is going to be a weekend trip if that helps. Thanks! |

There is plenty to do in the Dells to keep you busy for a weekend trip. I am not sure about the restaurant in question. That said, I think you should creatively schedule the weekend trip to fall on the weekend of the WI HTF shoot on 7/24. "Hey sis, well look over there, those guys are shooting –– can we stop?" |

It'd be nice-but that's her birthday. I'm guessing that's when she wants to spend time with her ARFCOMMER husband and her 4 month old son. |

I took my fiance through the Tommy Bartlet Exploratory on her first visit to the Dells last year. The place is amazing in that it has not been updated, and is a little corny but fun. Do the Ducks for sure. Well worth it. Some of the go kart tracks are blast to run around as well. You will be required to stop in to Paul Bunyon (sp?) for one meal (we always preferred breakfast). Otherwise, I'd say wander a bit, you'll have a great time. |

I would get online and check out one of the websites for the Dells and check out the attractions listings....you can get an idea of what you may want to do, how much they cost ( they usually have pricing listed ) and the hours of operation.
If you have time, check out Moose Jaw...great food. |

If you are into fantasy type stuff there is a place in town where it is like a wizard, dragon puzzle quest type thing with riddles and stuff to look for. I cannot remember the name off hand but I will see if I can find out what is is. It takes a couple of hours to get through, it's not bad.

| I live 15 miles from the Dells and I usually just take in Home Depot. I suggest a tourist book probably can get it from the Chamber. Most of the stuff is actually in Lake Delton, like all the water parts except Chula Vista which has been all redone and is a indoor park, hotel etc. My former neighbor had to live there during a move for 3 months and he said it was hard to move out and live in reality. the 50's eatery is gone. |

Ok the place we went to is called Wizards Quest. They also have a nic nak store with all kinds of stuff including what look like bongs. Wizard quest is cool the first time. It gets old after that. The woman loved it so much, we went back two more times. They claim to change stuff around, but in a year, they haven't changed squat. Still... cool for a first time thing. There's also a similar knock off on the far side of town, out by the outlet stores. There's also a 200 yard range just outside of town. ;-) |

The friends I went with told me they had changed things around since the last time they were there, but it had been a couple of years. |

Her dad lost two cameras in there. lol... |

Aside from this trip to the Dells, you are cordially invited to attend the ARFCOM event on that day –– sister or not! We will even completely ignore your State of origin for the weekend, I promise. ![]() P.S. There is a free overnight rustic campground opportunity nearby hosted by another member as well. |

What you really missed was the opportunity to walk ––- in the middle of ––- Lake Delton. It was sad but very interesting to stand in the middle of what was a lake some weeks before. If the weather is nice, I'd do a day of the stuff (i.e. ducks) and take in a day of water park. 2nd Moose Jaw, good eats. There is a small place that has bungee jumping and such. They had one ride where you get harnessed in and pulled back and "fly" superman style on an arc –– arms and legs out. It was an interesting feeling. The place was a little cheesy but this ride was a different sensation. One of the jet boats was pretty darn good –– I forget which –– I preferred a certain one (will check). You take a bus most of the way there and get out and walk a bit downhill to the boat(s). There is also a ride on the main drag by the big miniature golf place –– if you like rides –– like a big windmill with two people on each end. It was it's own attraction with a small booth. You spin forward and get the feeling of being launched directly into the concrete below. I guess it depends if you like such things but it was worth the cost if you do. |
