Obey not seeking re-election
Another career dem has decided not to fight the inevitable. Obungo won 56% of the vote in 2009 in Obey's district. "Elected in 1969 when he was just 31, Obey played a leading role in the anti-war and reform movement of the House in the 1970’s. He was closely associated with the late Rep. Richard Bolling (D—Mo.), who provided the intellectual framework for many of the changes then that empowered the Democratic caucus and role of the speaker." I'd expect this out of Madison/Milwaukee but I thought northern WI citizens were a little more conservative than this. Oh well. |

I say good riddance to him. He has been an embarassment to Wisconsin for years.
He has also been (lately) one of the ones instrumental in ramming Obamacare down our throats. I think he sees the signs that the American electorate is about to vomit it back up and he wants no part of being covered in it. Now if only some of the others would go too. (Feingold, Kohl, Schumer, Feinstein, Boxer, Pelosi and the rest of the usual suspects) However, right now it looks pretty good. Doyle and Obey leaving? Not bad for a start. |
