I would like to get some input from you guys about what you'd like to see offered in an AR Upper.
I'm talking to a well known manufacturer about getting my design made and possibly marketed under their name.  If it were to go through, we would probably get into the industry partner section and go from there.  Here are the options: (sorry but left side charge is not on the menu yet)
Right side BC charging handle or Normal CH
A3 rail height or +.150" rail height or +.150" with 10, 15, 20MOA taper
Gast tube vent holes or No vent holes

Benefits are:  Stronger barrel to upper connection with a threaded tube holding the barrel in, more than 1" longer top rail(no offset mount needed),  Optional barrel retention on OD of barrel with special barrel contour instead of barrel extension flange. Custom matching to lowers(select dealers), black anodize with teflon
We are unsure about how much market it left for a high quality AR upper.  Complete uppers would be available through dealer/builders.
Would a retail price around $275-$300 be reasonable?  Would you buy?  Any and all input is appreciated.
Here is a pic to remind you what they look like:

would I buy?? noop... but if you can get ammo down to $200 for 1K again... I would be interested in that....

What can all that do that a decent AR outfitted with a good barrel, Ammo and optics not do??

Stronger barrel to Upper.... Is that a big problem??? I'm guessing no..

Right side CH in that configuration.... no thanks... I need/want one I can run with my left hand.

yes I would buy one. I like the right side BC charging handle for sure. I do need one to finish off a build, it has a upper for now but I have always wanted to change it to something better.

What kind of Machining class you have in mind?
I do not have a shop at home I can bring people to.
If you have specific questions about machining I might be able to answer them.

If you want to learn to really be a machinist, take a tech school course. But if you are at a hobby level, its hard to get hands on experience.

Some schools do offer classes for the home machinist, but they seem kinda rare at Madison MATC.

I'm also a machinist by trade.
