Too much politics.

<== Sorta familiar with some of the folks on the BOD*.

that's why i am hesitant about joining the club. what exactly are the politics, (other than the obvious 2nd amendement stuff.), and is there any way to avoid the politics? (i know joining the nra is not a good way to avoid the politics. but it's required...)

Note the smiley and the not-so-subtle followup.

My wife (posts here as AnnieO) is on the board at RCLRC.

Like any organization, RCLRC has it's own personalities, cliques, and issues internally.  We've come a long way (at one point, for a member to post the initials "RCLRC" on this forum was verboten for members ), but there's quite a way to go until I'd be ready to say that County Line has an absence of politics.

By all means, it's nothing to keep someone from joining.  Heck, watching the fireworks at a BOD meeting is sometimes even fun.

Polym, feel free to stop by and grab me to talk at the picnic to talk and meet the Arfcom crew.  I'm easy to spot. Just look for the leprechaun walking around.

Unless you a member ,spouse or child of a member the picnic is private ! you just don't walk your happy ass into our club picnic and think your going to look over the range eat our food drink our beer and talk to members and see if our club is good enough for you it don't work like that.

These are your words from your Milwaukee Area Ranges Post

Fine go find a place to shoot!

Now its a different story!  You start this post Thinking of joining RCLRC what makes you think RCLRC will have you as a member? It is not a give me that you will be voted in as a associate member.

So here is the deal convince me why you should be allowed to join this club. You slam RCLRC in one post and then think
you want to join in a different post on a public forum it don't work that way.
Like I said Words are like bullets you cant call them back, why am I posting this here? because of your post so if you want to cowboy up and convince me go for it, If you want to get a attitude, ignore me or don't think I'm serious you will not become a member not a threat just a fact!

maybe i did a poor job of expressing myself. no where did i "slam" the rclrc. what i DID say was that the NRA was too political and that i just wanted to shoot. i said i didn't want to join the NRA. call me paranoid, but i don't want my name on a list in washington. politically i am also a 3rd party voter so i don't agree with who the nra wants me to vote for neither do i agree with their bullying tactics on the hill.
now as for the picnic... if a member of the board invites us because we are family, than is it not ok to attend? i'm not looking to fight anyone. that's what the kids on m4carbine.net do.

For the record, not every RCLRC member is happy with being forced to join the NRA, myself included.  As an independent voter, I dislike the idea of supporting candidates that may share my view on the 2nd Amendment, but fail to recognize the other nine.  Sadly the NRA doesn't always take the same position.

Universal NRA membership happens to be one of the prices of admission to an great range, so it's something a prospective member has to decide for themselves.

well said fmd! after researching clubs in the area i found they all require nra membership. rclrc seems like the best out of all of them. and as a bonus, i know some of the members, and my commonlaw really has fun when she goes.
i look forward to meeting you fine ladies and gentleman on sunday!
