My apologies for not noticing the other thread started about the map prior, all the information has been relocated to that thread so this one can die
alright I felt the need to begin a new thread decicated to this topic alone. For those of you who are unaware, through the efforts of some persistant members over at the Wisconsin forum on OpenCarry.org the MPD Training Bulletin issued on April 30, 2009, containing a map of 1000' school zones (as per 2006) has been made available to us. A downloadable version of the map in .pdf is available at the bottom of page one of the following thread over at OpenCarry.org: Link to thread at OpenCarry.org where .pdf of MPD map is available in the bottom post on page 1 Along with the downloadable map, to provide an easier visual for those of you who are uninterested, dont care, or cant figure out how to download it - I've converted the ten page training bulletin into .jpg format to post as pictures below: click on any of the images to go to imageshack and see the larger versions (where you'll have to click on it again for the fullsize). remember: this bulletin contains school zone information from 2006 Images Removed and posted in the other thread. |

WTF. This 1000' rule needs to go. Someone said in an early thread/post that Drug Free Zones don't even encompass that much of an area. Apparently its "okay" for some cracked out dope dealer to sit a block away from a school selling his wares but I cannot walk down the street while OCing?! This state has some of the most fucked up laws I've ever seen. This is the kind of shit that pisses me off.
Carl West Allis PS...When are elections again? |

Hopefully they will address it whenever we get a passing PPA. I could just imagine driving down the street and being pulled over a block from a school (that you didn't even know was there) and, (in certain jurisdictions) jacked with a felony for possession of a firearm in a school zone. If they really wanted to jack people up for doing things near school zones, they could just provide enhanced penalties for committing a crime with a weapon (or violent crime, etc) within a school zone. That would leave the law abiding citizens alone, and actually punish the criminals. We'll see. Whenever we do pass a PPA, I'm sure it will be a few years before all the loose ends get tied up.

I know we have a lot of threads going that relate to this, but I understand that the OP wants a specific thread just for the Milw school zone map and officer instructions. But, we already have a thread specifically for this. (linked above.) Not trying to be a jerk. It just gets hard to follow all the discussions with too many threads. |
