<–––– is at the shop getting the engine rebuilt so I had some unplanned (although not unexpected) time off. With weather cooperating the last couple of days, I managed to get my 'must do' spring chores done and yesterday, we (my wife and I) loaded up the 'arsenal' in the Jeep and went to the range!  For the first time, since we bought the AR's in November - and assorted other guns since then, we finally had the opportunity!  The good news? After nearly 20 years away from it, I still remember how to shoot the M16 platform. The bad news? I need LOTS of practice!  We were shooting 25m zero targets at 50 yards. I managed to get everything on the paper, within about a 5" circle, but couldn't keep the groups consistent.  My wife, on the other hand, was getting consistent groups - but about 1 foot to the right of the paper.  This was primarily just a familiarization trip. We spent about 6 hours at the range but only shot about 200 rounds across 4 calibers. I shot my first handgun(s) - after 8 years in the Army; I had qualified on, or fired, a number of different weapons, but never a handgun. MY GOD, THOSE DA triggers are a PAIN!  They say that it should always be a surprise when the weapon fires, I was truly surprised when they FINNNNNALLY did! None-the-less, I managed to keep everything on the paper. Those shots didn't even qualify as groups - they were just random holes in the target!   I can't wait to do it again!!  |

My mechanics will want to get paid... |
