Last week I had a chance to shoot a match with the racine IDPA club.

It was a blast to shoot and some good practice. I`m hooked for sure and will be attending all of there matches from now on.

I had so much fun I dont want to wait another month for the next match. So does anyone know of other IDPA type matches in SE wis.

The Ripon gun club holds IDPA matches on the second Saturdays.

They are holding a USPSA match this Saturday morning.

I believe that Racine IDPA is going to hold their next 3 matches at "Schultz's" gun club. Schultz's holds two USPSA matches a month, during the summer. There's not MUCH difference between shooting IDPA, and USPSA, but, usually the round count at a USPSA match is higher.

More ammo burned= more fun!

I shoot both games.

Is there a schedule somewhere for the Racine IDPA/USPSA?  I know about the matches in Ripon already, but that is a little drive....

I shot IDPA once for fun I did pretty well too up until I was DQ'd. FYI seems porting isn't allowed.  I thought that was a BS rule. Other than that it is a really good time.

It depends on where you shoot, and who is there.

If you want to shoot a pistol that isn't quite IDPA "legal", talk to the match director BEFORE the match. If it is a local match, they will usually let you shoot, but, maybe not for score.

I've had match directors allow me to use my USPSA "open" gun at IDPA matches.

I think the IDPA rules are silly.  But, if you don't mind getting a lousy score, you can have a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info.

I will have to look into USPSA at Schultz`s. Are the matches just pistol or are they rifle and shotgun also.

From the description on the wisconsin shooters pages it seams like they shoot all 3 but while looking at some of the COF they only mentioned pistol.

The USPSA matches at Schultz's that are run by the Schultz's have always been pistol only, that I can remember.

Last year, one of the USPSA matches that was run by the NISA boys (Northern Illinois Shooters Assc.) had a rifle stage also. They were talking about doing the same thing this year, but, last week, when I asked the fellow that usually runs the NISA matches, he wasn't sure when they would have a rifle stage.

Holmen gun club, which is just North of LaCrosse has a few 3-gun matches scheduled for this year. Ths first one is in May. If you like IDPA, or USPSA, stay away from shooting 3-gun. It is addicting as crack, and will suck money out of your wallet almost as fast!

My first time shooting IDPA, I was using my Glock 23C.  I just asked the range officer and he allowed the ported barrel but of course I couldn't get an official score.  Not that I cared about the score.

Ripon occasionally will have a rifle side match setup after the IDPA is done.  One time it was 93 rounds over 4 stages that you had to run between.  Most were doing tac reloads between the stages.  The winner had a really cool AR with a heavier barrel, huge flash hider, scope on top, canted Eotech, and a beta mag.  Amazing watching how fast that guy ran the stages.

If I remember right, I ran my Beta dry and did a reload.

I don't even own a camera.

The lower is RRA, with a JP trigger.
The upper started out life as an Oly, 24", with 1-10 twist, but, I had it shortened to 17"
At the time of that match, it had a 1-4 Leupold on top with an OKO red dot mounted on the handguard at about 1 O'clock, but, I switched out the scope to a 2-10.
I'm running a JP "tank" brake on it.

I'm pretty sure that I heard that they were going to run some mini 3-gun matches at Ripon after the USPSA matches in May, June, and July.
