If you needed to relocate to another state, what would be your choice and why?
I'm thinking west. Not the coast though. The southwest sounds good, as long as it isn't too close to the border. AZ sounds like its getting pretty expensive to live there. NV doesn't seem to have much outside of LV and Reno (but I wouldn't want to live in those cities). Parts of Texas sound good. Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, sound inviiting, but I think their winters suck more than ours. UT may be a possibility, but it sounds like its starting to suffer from creeping coasties (and parts of ID may be also, for that matter).

Whats your opinion?

I've seriously been looking at TN or TX, mostly because of politics and the lack of cold white stuff for half the year. With the current economy and job market, I'll be staying put for now though.

MT, WY ID, UT in order of Pref.  the Tx side of the Texoma region is a possibility as well.  But it still gets damn hot there.

I lived in TX for close to 10 years.  Great state and love it.  Very pro gun and some of the best prices in the country on such.  And of course you can get a CCW license.

BUT

Wisconsin isn't nearly as bad as you might think.  I've gotten way more trigger time in WI than I ever did in Texas.  Yea, we don't have CCW (seriously, WTF people?), and the politics are just goofy.  Yet I find it far easier to locate quality ranges, participate in shooting activities, and hunt; in Wisconsin than I ever found in Texas.

Wyoming or Idaho. If you've been there, then it's clear why you would want to move there.

I have been looking real hard at Kentucky and Tennessee milder climat both have CCW Tennessee does not have income tax  but they do have a higher sales tax.

Any place out there where it gets cold in winter yet doesn't snow much?  I have no problems with the cold, I just hate that damn white stuff...

If I was in a situation to move, which I'm not, I'd love to move to the Idaho, Utah, and Montana area.

Montana and I would push to succeed from the union if things keep going the way they are.Not that it would be a great thing to do ,but I think the threat might help things, maybe.

Well, here is at least 10 you can knock off your list... the usual suspects of course, including Wisconsin.

More States Look to Raise Taxes

I too, am very seriously thinking about packing up my family of 6, and get the hell out of here.  The wife and I have been discussing potential relocation areas, and are probably going to fire up the motor home this summer and gather some intel on a few prospect areas.

ETA...

And this will be the last FAWKING straw for me... LINK

I'm stuck here for a couple of years at least, since I did stupid and borrowed against my 401K. Also would have to persuade the family to move. Moving west is very appealing to me, but I haven't given much though about the south. I'm just afraid that liberalism might catch up with more southern states sooner or later.
FWIW, my in-laws live in NV between vegas and death valley (cool places, to be sure!).

If it comes down to moving, I'll be moving back to Australia. I miss the topless (and sometimes bottomless) beaches.

Since I'm not independantly wealthy, I'd have to go somewhere that I could get a job. LOL

If I had my preference, somewhere west of here that had friendlier gun laws.

I lived in Denver for four years, loved the weather. Our plans are to move west in three years when the kids done with school, if the economy straitens out. I love to live in western Colorado, south eastern Idaho, or Utah. The winter sucks here, but Wisconsin has alot to offer a sportsman.

My wife and I have decided when we've both graduated nursing school we're leaving.  Right now we're leaning (I'm leaning) towards Wyoming and (she's leaning) towards Kentucky.  I could dig either.  Winter is in my bones.  I may curse it but I curse it like the dog you pretend to hate but actually love.
