Here is something you may want to voice your opinion on to your state reps.
I did not take the time to find the bill links on the state site. (sorry to busy today)

Second Amendment Update for the Badger State

Friday, February 27, 2009

Two firearms-related bills are currently making their way through the Wisconsin Legislature in Madison.
Castle Doctrine legislation has been reintroduced by State Senator Jim Holperin (D-12) in the Senate and in the House by State Representatives Chris Danou (D-91) and Ann Hraychuck (D-28).  Castle Doctrine legislation would permit law-abiding citizens to use force, including deadly force, against an attacker in their homes.  It is clearly stated that there is no “duty to retreat” from an attacker, enabling law-abiding citizens to stand their ground to protect themselves and their family.  It also protects individuals from civil lawsuits by the attacker or the attacker’s family when force is used.  The bill, which is awaiting a bill number, is currently being circulated for cosponsors.  Please contact your legislators and respectfully ask them to support and cosponsor this important legislation.
In a disturbing move aimed at making gun ownership more difficult and costly in the Badger State, Governor Jim Doyle’s (D) budget bill seeks to raise the fee on background checks from $8 to $30.  Governor Doyle wants gun owners to pay over three times more for a background check before they can exercise their Second Amendment rights.  The money that is collected from this fee is going to a newly created “criminal justice support fund” to fund the various needs of law enforcement.
Please contact your State Senator at (608) 266-2517 and your State Representative at (608) 266-1501 today and respectfully request that they support and cosponsor Wisconsin’s Castle Doctrine bill.  Also, respectfully ask them to oppose Governor Doyle’s unfair and unjust gun tax.  Your State Senator can be reached by phone at (608) 266-2517 and your State Representative at (608) 266-1501.

Doyle is a COMPLETE NAZI MORON! I have never met a dumbed down politician as him. When I confronted him in Iraq while he was visiting the unit I was with(2-127th infantry.......Total garbage of a unit by the way) I was there when the vote for concealed carry was up for vote, and asked him why he refuses to allow the people of our state the right to defend themselves. He was taken back, and said thats what the police are for. I laughed, and replied that police here are are nothing more than after the fact note-takers. I was quickly ushered to the side by a senior NCO and scolded for such a disrespect for our govenor. BFD, as he has done nothing for me or my family during his reign. Got chewed out for it, but it was worth it.

well then, buy yourself a AMD65 AK47 kit and build a ak pistol with a 2" barrel. or buy a barrel for it and build a normal AK47 rifle.
or buy a dark bore yugo barrel and cut it down to 6" and make a more practical AK pistol.
total cost? 180$ for the kit, 15$ for the receiver and US compliance parts if it is a rifle(around 50-60$)
gets you into an AMD style AK47 for under 250$, cant beat that!
best part? you do not need to pay the state a dime to "check your background"

Didn't they just raise the handgun background check fee a year or two ago?

I already asked both my Senator and Assembly Rep to oppose the fee hike. Both said they opposed it too.

And I congratulated and thanked my Senator, Jim Holperin (a Democrat), for introducing the castle doctrine bill.

When Holperin was running to replace Roger Breske (the only Dem in the Senate to co-sponsor the PPA) I asked him about his support for CCW in WI. He said he backed CCW for WI, just like Breske had (including voting against any veto). I had some reservsations about his "alleged" stance of bucking the party boss on a gun issue... so I'm glad to see his name on this pro-gun bill. He might be good for his word afterall.

I'm curious to find out what becomes of this castle doctrine bill...the fact that it's backed by a few Dems leads me to believe it does have a small chance. We'll see though. I bet it gets vetoed by our bonehead governor if it does get passed.

That's what I'm thinkin...our richard crainium governor aint gonna let that slide unless he figures it's worthwhile raking the handgun buyers over the coals.
