It's a 1 day show?  On a Sunday?

Well, I'm glad you posted that!  I had no idea that was going on this weekend - and I live less than a mile away!  As a matter of fact, I drove past there TWICE today and don't recall seeing any signs!

I was planning on going back to work Friday, if my truck was out of the shop, but I may have to stick around and check it out!

I haven't been to it in a few years.  Not that I'm very knowledgeable now, but I was even less so then - but to the best of my recollection they didn't have much in the way of Black Rifle gear.   Who knows though, given the state of affairs now that may have changed!

Yep, a one day show. I talked to Tom today and he informed me there was only one table left open but he saw no problem selling it. That should be fifty some tables. If you attend and wish to carry in a firearm be prepared to pay an extra buck. In the past there was not alot of black rifle sales but hey ya never know. The prices on my table will be WAY out of line as I am a capitalistic price gouging pig...thanx to Obama, Polosi, Fienstien, and Clinton.

I thought the first gun could be brought in free, but after that is was $1 per gun? Not sure, I could be wrong on that.

That was a direct result of a local who doesn't want to pay for a table, yet brings a bag full of handguns and a rifle over each shoulder, stays there all day, makes an ass of himself, and if he sells a gun he goes out to his car to get another and comes right back in.

I live less than a mile away on CR.  When I picked up my truck (Nelson Truck & Equipment Service) on Wednesday afternoon there still weren't any signs out!  I seem to recall in the past that they always had signs out the week before...  Maybe with all the snow they can't find a good place to put one!
There WAS an ad, in the Classified's, in Wednesday's Shopper though.

Oh well, I can't afford to spend any money on BRD (and associated diseases) right now!  I'm going back out on the road today - that way I can't spend money I don't have!

Bought three AR's last year after spending 2 years customizing Savage .22's and .17's. Discovered the AR platform and every day it's a struggle to not take it to the next level. I'm over by the Expo in that tiny subdivision right on the outskirts of town.

W. Custer/Expo Street area?  I'm down CR, just inside Clover - if I'm home, you can't miss it, you'll see the truck (see my avatar) in the yard!  Where do you shoot at?  I know there is a range on Clover road - I can hear them shooting, usually twice a week in the summer.  I'm told by a friend (also has a Black Rifle) that there is a place (Viking Gun Club?) on the west side of I43, but since I've bought my rifles, the weather has been WAY to nasty to investigate!  As soon as the weather moderates, one nice thing about a job like mine is that it makes time disappear quickly, I'll be looking for a place to go.  Any good places places locally to buy parts, ammo, etc?  I've checked WalMart a few times, I don't recall seeing any 5.56, or for that matter, anything I'm interested in! (5.56, 9mm, .357) they did have .22lr (and I think .17)!  Fleet Farm had some .223 and .357 but in very limited quantities.  I bought some 9mm SD ammo from Louie's - he seemed pretty competitive on that - but he seemed to have a shortage of the stuff I was interested in too!  He DID have a new DPMS carbine in stock when I stopped in at the end of January!  I was kind of surprised at the number of guns he had in stock!  I didn't realize he did that much with them!
We'll have to get together sometime and go exercise those rifles!

The range on Clover road is shotgun only, trap and skeet. I'm a member at Viking Bow and Gun, it's members only, has 25 to 200 yd outdoor rifle range, 25 yd pit for pistol, 3 trap houses, sporting clays course, indoor and outdoor archery range, along with a decent clubhouse and reasonable membership rates. Some of the guys there are snobs and won't talk to you unless you have an O/U shotgun, but they are a minority. From Manitowoc, take 151 west, turn south on County S, west on Nagel, and west again on Rusch Road. I might have to head out there Saturday if it warms up as much as they say it's going to.

I haven't been into Louie's in years, last time I was there his prices were outrageously high and he seemed not interested in selling anything. I usually buy and/or sell guns at the various gun shows, and reloading supplies at Midwest or Bertrand's.

BTW, I'm in Cleveland

Hey bedlamite,  thanks for the info (and the link)!  I don't know how many google searches I did for local ranges, FFL's, gunshops, etc but I don't think that one ever came up!  I wasn't sure about the range on Clover road, I'd heard it was shotgun only.  By the time I bought my rifles - late November - they had apparently closed up shop for the year 'cuz I didn't hear them anymore and couldn't go check them out.

Bertrand's?  I know about Midwest, I stopped there on the day I bought my AR's.  They didn't have any AR's, but I lucked out at Tom's Guns in Fond Du Lac.  I didn't notice any reloading stuff - it wasn't 'til I started buying 5.56 (I did FAIRLY well with the deal Cabela's had during the Holidays) that I realized that reloading was going to be in my future!  My Christmas present to myself was a RCBS Rockchucker kit.  Once I've had an opportunity to shoot up some of that brass I got from Cabela's and build myself a bench, I'll be looking for reloading supplies too!

Well, I'll be near Conway, AR on Saturday - so no range action for me!  Don't feel bad, I know it's cold back home, but I'm here in Dallas, Tx and I woke up this morning to 34 degrees!  As soon as I get back, I'll be looking into a membership over at Viking, so I expect I will see you out there one day!

I'm also a member at Viking.

The best part about it is the fact that other than the month before hunting season, the range is all your own!
I spend a lot of time down there alone, clean up old targets and shit, take care of the range a little. Dues are $35 bucks a year. If you need any membership info, let me know. There's a guy at work who hooked me up. He's apparently got a lot of pull over there.

It's mostly for the trap shooting, bow hunting crowd. Those areas of the club see the highest use.

Going near Conway AR? Stop by and buy a few lbs. of smoked bacon from Coursey's along the Buffalo River. It's a must have when I paddle and backpack down there. I always bring back a few lbs. It makes Nueske's taste like stale dog treats.

I suppose I should have asked, do you need a sponsor to get into Viking?  ManCoRad, the local Amateur Radio Club that I'm a member of, doesn't require sponsorship as such, but you DO have to be approved by the membership.  I was just going to fill out the app from the their website and and mail it off when I got home.

It's nice to know that the range is pretty much open, I own the truck and set my own schedule so I'd probably be down there on week days - after the business stuff is done of course.  I'll be home the last week of this month, got to see the accountant about those pesky taxes, so I'll probably wander over there and check it out then.

I don't think I've ever had Nueske's meat, I get all mine from Newton Meats.  Steaks, burgers, brats, meatloaf, I get a stick of sausage from them every time I'm home, have them slice it for me and make sandwiches out here on the road!  Beats the daylights out of truckstop food and cheaper to boot!

You do not need a sponsor to join Viking.  Just go out there on a night they are shooting trap or on just about any weekend and stop at the clubhouse and sign up and pay.  I am a member of Viking also.  Reedsville has a 400yd range but it only has one backstop and then benches back to 400yds so if you get there and someone is plinking at 50yds with there 22 you are SOL until they are done.  It's nice to go there thoguh in the middle of the week and shoot to 40-yds.  I believe you need a sponsor for Reedsville though.

If you want, I'll get an application from the guy I know at work. he always has the Viking paperwork stuff with him.
