| Found a guy doing utah CCW classes. At $120 per person, it's the best I've found locally, ie Waukesha. Anyone else interested in going? |
Dam someone gave you a license for a gun |
Yeah scary ain't it.... |
My daughter and I both took Bill & Deb's course as well, but it was back in 2005 to get MN permits (before they were certified as Utah instructors). Great course, great people. |
I sent an email off to Bender, this is the reply I got regarding upcoming dates. All classes still had availability at that point.

Here is the deal with his Utah class (Pack 1 - Permit-to-Carry a Handgun), it is $200 if you come alone... however, if you bring a friend it's $120 each, so there is a substantial savings when bringing a friend. On top of the class fee there is a $25 range fee (Fletchers). I'm looking to take the Oct. 18th class in Waukesha, since MisterPX is gone this month, is anyone interested in being my friend, LOL. Class starts at 8:30am, ends at 5:30pm. You will need a handgun and 50 rounds of ammo for said handgun. They will have the Utah form at the class for you to fill out. His wife also will provide fingerprinting ($10) and passport quality photo ($10) at the class. So you can leave the class with everything you need for your permit, you just drop it in the mail. So for $165 you'll be all set. |
I'll be taking their class. I wanted to take the same one you are but I'm stuck at work that day. Looks like I'll be taking it in November instead as the only other one in October is listed as private. |
Dix? If so maybe we can do dinner late next week, if you're allowed any free time. |
|
I'm in for that. If you can't make the October one shoot me a PM and we'll do it. Where in Wi do you live, I'm in the northern most part of Racine myself. |
|
Mugenlude, I'll pair up with ya. Will there be any need to register before hand? I will be leaving early (this morning now, it's after midnight) for northern Wisconsin and will not have internet access until Sunday afternoon (tomorrow). I will PM you with my cell # and you can give me a call if you need any contact information or anything before I get back. what are the chances that Utah will actually grant the permit? -Kyle |
Looks like Kyle is going to be able to make it. And I'm also on north Racine, I live right by Jerstead (sp) school. |
Utah has no issue sending you a permit, as long as you meet their requirements. |
|
|
I read it in Guns and Ammo magazine and also came across it under the training part of AR15.com I will see if I have it saved. EDIT: Found it: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=9&f=16&t=226547 |

Took Mike Bender's class this last weekend. I thought it was very informative, it is a basic firearm class that covers what you need to know if you want to carry concealed. All of the legal aspect were covered, which is what I was looking for out of the class. A lot of the stuff was just a refresher for me, such as gun safety, function of firearms (wheel guns and semi-autos), types of holsters, etc. However, there were people in the class who obviously didn't know anything about this. Lots of helpful "hints" of how to handle situations that could occur, and how to avoid most situation in general. I would recommend the course to people looking to get a Utah permit for sure, actually for anyone that is planning to carry concealed in any state. Actual shooting portion of the class was very short, as expected. I am interested in taking some of his other classes and continuing to gain more knowledge/know how. |

has anyone had any update on thier Utah Permits if they've taken the class?
I sent in my permit application on Nov 3rd and instead of using a check I filled in my CC information on the form... Mrs. Bender said that they would give either grant or deny the application within 60 days of cashing the heck or charging the credit card... its been almost a month now and I havent seen the charge on my Credit Card... any suggestions?

I currently live in Utah and have my CCW permit but may be moving to Wisconsin soon. Do any of you who teach out of state classes know if it is possible to convert a current UT resident permit to a "non resident permit" until the expiration date of the original permit?

HK, that is not my question.
People in WI are taking UT "non-resident" CCW classes so they can get their UT CCW. I currently live in UT and have a UT "resident" CCW. I may be moving to WI and want to know if my UT "resident" CCW can be converter to a UT "non-resident" with just an address change for the duration of it's issued date. No one here in UT seems to know and I thought the instructors in WI that give the "non-resident" class may know. MadDog

Just signed up with PPA for next weekend's class. where is it located? Lodi. My parents live in Waunakee, so we'll just stay there. its $200/person + $80 for the second person (wife). then $25 range fee and $10 each for passport photos (might see how much Kinkos does those for though. Can't remember what it cost for my Form 1 pictures) |

In my class there was one woman that was very annoying, she wasn't bright enough to keep up and was obviously showing her frustration. She went to all of us there and asked if we were having trouble keeping up. I told her no and then she got pissed off at me for saying that. |
