Would there be any interest in someone doing brass processing for you for a reasonable fee?

My father lost his job and is trying to find something to help pay the bills until he can find something.  Unfortunatly due to his age this might take awhile.  I already have everything he would need to do this but to make it easier and alot quicker it gives me a good reason to buy a Giraud!

I'm setup to load .223 .308 30-06 9mm and .45.  I would limit it to these cals for now and it would include sizing/depriming, crimp removal if necessary, trimming and belling for pistol.  He could also prime if you would like?

I would really like to get this rolling for him!  Let me know if you have any questions via IM or email

Thanks,
Stang

there is demand for this work. try the reloading forums and reloading section of the classifieds.
im not sure what the going rate is, i think 30-40$ per 1K of say 223.
the problems arise when lazy people send in brass that messes up reloading equiptment, like beridian primed, brass with stones in it, etc.
breaking a few decapping pins will cut into margins real quick.

I don't see how anyone can make any money on it unless they have some commercial reloading equipment... Even, hypothetically, using a Dillon 1050 and a Giraud would still take considerable time; and at $30-40/1k, you'd at best be making ~$10/hour, at best.

But for someone that doesn't have a job and no income coming in $10 an hour is a lot better than nothing.

not to mention, there is a demand for the service. some guy on the EE was doing it for a while, but i think he raised his prices or quit due to the sheer amount of work involved.

Exactly!

He/We are not trying to make a living doing it.  It's just something to help out while times are tuff!

not to mention... it is kind of fun. at least when im doing my own brass...
it might become "work" if im doing it for some one else.
if he does has excellent quality control, im sure that some reloaders would pay a premium to know that every round is done correctly.
