why cant he?
if he is bright enough, does not have a hot head, and is cool and collected in his thaughts, it is very feesable to represent yourself in a court of law. it just requires a lot of researcha nd becoming familiar with the process. if you dont do your research/homework, the DA and judge will view you as an incompetent twit and not take you seriously.

my roomates and I heard three repeated shots two days ago in our neighborhood...

I looked to them and said sarcastically "if our government would just ban the carry of guns, that wouldnt have happened" ...they laughed.
