| Im so sick of their high prices.... its a chain of stores you would figure they would be a little cheaper. |
| hello. get used to it! there are hardly any places to go for "cheap " prices. even briks of 22 ammo is at 19.00! 12 blasting ammo at k-mart is now 30.00 for 100rds! i am buying all the ammo that i can afford every paycheck. in 2 yrs the prices now will seem cheap! kirk |
i tried that a few times, the ammount of time and energy required ot actualy get them to price match was NOT worth the hastle. i would much rather go to walmart where i know i will get the price without having to haggle with them weather or not the item qualifies for their low price guarentee. |
| Gander's prices are horrible, and they seems to increase more significantly then anywhere else. I stop buy the one on 27th street once in a while because it's close to my apartment and see if there are any deals. Not too long ago, they had a bulk box of 650 Speer 90 grain bullets in .270. They had it marker $62 for the box!!! My father snapped that deal up quick. Haven't seen another one since... |

Nothing wrong with DU sticker. I'm talking about the yuppies that have a $2000 shotgun, $2000 dog that is not loved as a pet but used as a tool, and a $50,000 Suburban with the DU sticker to make them feel like an outdoorsman. All of the above come out of the garage/kennel once a year. The kind of guys that think anything semi auto (other than $2000 shotgun) is a terrorist weapon and that we shouldn't own them. |
So true! ![]() Blackops_1. |

Gander has become insanely overpriced compared to their competition without a doubt. It's all about LOCATION for them. They build in places where people have money, or are willing to pay extra. By having a Gander in every mid-sized to larger city around, they develop name recognition amongst the city folk, and their nearest competition is either the little guy who has no advertising budget (and cant go much lower than Gander's prices if they want to stay in business) or it's Cabelas which is only in two places in Wisconsin, both of which most people won't drive to unless they plan on buying alot of stuff. Their marketing strategy works. They know where to build, and how to get people in their stores. The Wausau Gander Mountain is MASSIVE, and it can be because nobody north of Stevens Point wants to drive to Milwaukee or Prairie Du Chein for hunting supplies. |
Yeah I use to go to the one here in Kenosha as well. When I bought my Glock I stopped in there first and they wanted an extra $100 for it over the local small gun shops. It's because they charge $100 for their own warrenty which is stupid. Especially when you see their signs saying something like extra protection but no added costs or something like that. I did become weak and stop in a week or so again to buy some hollow points for the "night stand" Glock. I picked up a box and waited 20 mins at the counter where not one of the clerks helped me or would even acknowledge I was there. So I just put the box on the counter and walked out. |
| The one east side of Madison is having a close-out sale now. They're moving to a 90,000 brand freakin new store just north of Madison. Even with the discount most stuff was still insanely high. They had a plastic plate you can get 10 of for a buck at the dollar store for 7.50. |
that happened to me all the time at the old brookfield location. i have to admit at the new one they are far more helpful. i just snaged a bushnell scope(3-7X) for 60$ so im not too displeased with their prices, just have to go in not expecting to buy annything and you might find a used gun that they have way under priced or a scope on closeout that makes it an OK deal now their reloading prices are insane. if they wanted to sell a lot more and make some money based on volume, compete with midsouth, pats, and Midwestern shooting supply. it sure would be nice to buy my powder and primers localy. oh well fuck em. capitalism is a bitch, maybe they will learn some day |
Here's a simple solution: If you think their prices are high, DON'T BUY ANYTHING THERE. I too think their prices are too high for the most part, and guess what, I DON'T BUY ANYTHING THERE. Not defending G-M or any other large sporting goods store, but there is no law saying you need to buy your sporting goods at any of them. If you think the prices are too high then use this wonderful medium called the internet to find a better price, then work with your local small-volume FFL and give him some business. If you add in the shipping (and transfer fees in the case of firearms) and it doen't make sense to go that route, then maybe then the price at the sporting goods store isn't that out of line. Make an effort and do what works best for you to get the best prices you can handle. |

can buy them for $76/500 elsewhere. WTF
