Friend of mine was asking how to go about acquiring a Browning .50 bolt action, single shot.... If he needs a special liscense, and any other info you may care to share.

Also he'd like to know what price range to expect.

FYI, a Browning .50 is either fully automatic or a semi-auto clone of Ma Deuce.

Single shot .50s are available from a number of manufacturers.  No license is needed; these are the largest a civilian can purchase without going through the NFA process.

Barrett makes quality but is expensive.  Serbu makes a great .50 and was rated best bang for the buck by Gun Tests.  Windrunner rifles have a good name, but I think they're a little pricey for what you get.  If your friend is on a budget, Watson's Weapons makes a aingle shot .50BMG upper for an AR-15 receiver.

I recommend the Serbu or (if your friend has the money to spend) a Barrett.

Finally, your friend will discover that .50 BMG ammunition isn't cheap.  Tell him to go to www.hevanet.com/temple/index.html for reloading information for the .50 BMG, solid information on .50 BMG shooting in general, and for links to other useful pages.
