It is a Federal requirement, but WI does their own handgun checks. Since we already had a 48 hour period, we didn't have to go with the longer period... The increase can be used for a whole bunch of stuff and not just adinistrative costs of the program.... It is Doyle's way of taxing handguns. |

Hey, guys a West Virginia hillbilly here. Just heard about the $22 increase on your background checks. Here we have no waiting period and background checks are free. I am a class 2 dealer and do all my checks by computer, there is no charge. Hope things change for you and you can get this stuff reversed! God Bless! |

Man... Wisconsin Sucks!!! I have no plans on leaving anytime soon and for the most part I enjoy living here, but every time I hear about another state with more reasonable specific laws, it pisses me off more and more that we have a retard like Doyle in office. Since the Brady requirement for background checks expired 11/30 1998, there is no for Wisconsin to keep its 48 hour waiting period...... The stupidity really shows when you trade in a handgun on another handgun and you have a 48 hour "cooling off" period... |
| As retarded as WI can be it could be much worse. Other than our lack of CCW and handgun waiting period it's pretty good, state preemption, most places are pretty gun friendly. Thank the flying spaghetti monster that we aren't Illinois. Fuck whatever asshole stuck this in the budget at any rate. |
