Took in both a Henry .22 for a lever change. 10 minute job. ist pickup lever was not smooth, had a notch feel hesitation halfway open. 2nd pickup bolt hit the hammer extension. Cost $60. Took it to "Bills" in Oconomowoc, he  immediatly saw bolt was hitting hammer extension. Fixed on the spot, charged $5.00.

Same time took in a Kimber .45 (Hartford) to put a Wilson ambi safety that would clear the laser grips (already had a ambi safety). 1st pickup he (or his guy) took OFF present ambi safety and replaced it with a RH safety (me lefty).. Owner put on the proper safety and said he had grind the notch where they join. Original cost estimate $60 for both (not written down). Final bill $120 for maybe 15 minutes total work.

Both jobs I could have done myself,

Just playing devils advocate, and not trying to be an ass, butt.. If you could have done the work yourself, what made you choose to spend the money to have him do it? Also did you dispute the workmanship with him, and refuse to pay him what you thought was excessive for poor workmanship?

I know with the work I do I have to make it right. Period! I am more finicky than most of the customers I have. If I screw something up there is no way I am charging more in most situations. If it's not right in my eyes it's not right in the customers eyes.
If the customer does not like something I will make it right as long as it was part of the original scope of work. If he/she tries to bs me about something that he said I agreed upon and didn't then we have to work to a stisfactory conclusion, and he may no longer be a customer of mine.

That's the way I see it.

I am going throgh a whole bunch of poor workmanship with the transmission work done on my truck. The dealer like most dealers are being less than cooperative, and being quite stand off ish. I hate lazy poor workmanship, this is just the kind of thing that will make me take this to the top.
