Ahhh, but is it really an LP, Mark? While it looks like it, the clones seem to be found more than the real deal. <==owner of rare & goofy Japanese insruments (that make your Ritch look plain jane), Basses specifically. Take a look at this. I have the bass version, and have never seen another (including on the internet). ETA: I also have a "Jaguar" styled Fender knockoff bass, with an early 60's P-bass style pickup, and a "Mustang" knockoff guitar with musicmaster pickups... If you couldn't see the lack of Fender (R) on the headstock, you'd swear they were vintage, even though that Fender never made such animals, hence the question on if it was really an LP bass. |
I was at the club Sat with J.R. and ask him what kind of Bass he had He said you will see in the video thats why I think its a LP could be a knock off OK so when we gonna JAM? |
Kickass! An honest-toGod LP Goldtop Bass. I'll be damned. Always wanted to play a legit LP bass. How's the action and the neck? Wide radius/low action like an LP guit, fat and low like a Fender P or J, or baseball bat thick and 5' from the frets like a Rick?
Dammit, I haven't even been out to the club to shoot since January.

As Usual... Too many Bass players. What is this... Nashville? I'll bring it to Deersight. The action is low and very playable, Neck profile is on the narrow side like a Jazz Bass. Like a less Paul 6'er the bottom is vast. High's are not as bright and cutting like on a Fender. The eternal Set neck vs bolt on trade off. Lows for highs. ( thats the one part I don't like ). It is a cutom shop guitar from '95. The pick ups are standard humbuckers with a Bartolini preamp. Good for some tunes. I switch of to a Jazz bass if I need more highs. JR |

Sounds incredible, actually. I'm not suprised by the custom-shop aspect.
I like AnnieO's J-bass pretty well (yep, she plays also). What I'd really like to have is the P-bass my uncle had when I was a kid. He searched high and low for the "right" P-bass. It had a thin J neck, played and balanced perfectly, and could do a damn good impression of a Rickenbacher. Last I heard, it was converted to a 5 string by it's third owner, and is being used for recording sessions in NYC. The sound was just that good (and good enough for me to try and keep tabs on it). </sidetrack> |
