I talked to the manager at Gander about volume discounts of ammo. He says that they can do that and give price breaks on large quantities. I can get the ball rolling on this to find out what kind of prices we can get on ammo before anything is ordered to see if it's worth while. What I need to know is if anyone is interested. What kind/brand/type of 223 ammo would everyone want? Same thing about pistol ammo, including what caliber. Quatity each person is interested in. At this point this is just a fact finding investigation. Give me some numbers of what you would like to buy type/cal/quantity. Be realistic about it. If you want 10,000 rounds of 223 but can really only afford 5,000 than just say 5k. Nobody is obligated to anything at all right now. Like I said I am just trying to get realistic numbers so I can say get me a price on XX,XXX rounds of 223. Even with a quote nobody has to buy anything. I am sure PX you need another 20K of 223 by now right? So tell me what you think. Sorry this is taking so long. My schedule has not allowed me to get to talk to the guy until now. I have him checking on Black Hills 55gr Fmj red box High velocity. He has to talk to corporate. He thinks he may be able to bulk buys at any of the GM's He did not specify what the price was going to be, but I did see whay they pay for it. If they are good to us I can see the price being reasonable. I will ask about 9mm and .308 when he calls me. |

last time i was at gander their prices were a bit.... high. might want to consider other locations for the bulk buy as starting from a high price and getting 10-20% off will not net nearly the discount that it would somewhere else selling it cheaper. but what do i know, im one of those crazies who rolls his own |
How long would it take you to roll enough for a group buy?? ![]() My ammo desperation is starting to show. |
Thats why this is a fact finding mission as I stated before. It does not hurt to look and ask. We are not bound to buy anything. I roll my own as well. |

I havent seen any discussion about the ammo from Wisconsin Cartridge in Friendship Wi. Have any of you guys tried it? Maybe its worth the time to run a few tests. Ive been thinking about doing that for a few months but Im really busy right now with the tile biz. The have listed several types of 223. There is one fmjbt 55gr listes at $230.00 per 1000. I wonder what the quality of their reloads is. At that price Id go for at least 500 to a thousand. I saw the UMC 200 rd value pack at Gander was about $90.00 a few weeks ago. Just a little too rich for my blood. |
Kiser just took care of my ammo needs............... www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=121&t=451533 |

I come up to the Wausau area alot, and would like to get some .308. Are you guys talking about the Gander Moutain near there or somewhere esle? Black Hills or Federal Match would be awsome. Bucky145 |
It would be the gander in Brookfield (Milwaukee area) XM I looked at WCC and talked to them yesterday. $230 per K no further discount. Out of stock right now. Says he has 75K brass coming next week. He fills all LEO and BO first. Quite frankly I don't think GM can beat $23/K. But I am going to talk to them tomorrow when I am down for the MD app. |
See my other post in "Am I missing something" thread......got married, new band, etc. Going shooting with the wife today after work....she had only fired a gun once before....we did a few dry fire sessions (she has commandeered my Hi Power, says it "fits" her hand and she likes the single action trigger), and have done a couple range sessions so far. She is establishing good handling habits, is already drawing and firing, making good hits, and reholstering without looking. |
Congrats on gettin hitched. I'll go check the other thread. |
