A friend of mine was going to stop in at Badger one day last week.  Two MPD units went flying past him and beat him there.  He said Badger's "lot was full of squad cars", so he kept going.   Anybody hear of an incident there?

there is a reason that is the #1 dealer in the state that sells firearms that end up being used in murders.

"there is a reason that is the #1 dealer in the state that sells firearms that end up being used in murders."

I know they're #1 in the country for guns traced to crimes, although that's because they're on the edge of the bad part of town, and also because the Milwaukee PD is the only department in the country that runs traces on every gun they come across.

But I hadn't heard that they were #1 for selling guns used in murders. Can you cite a source for that?

badger in my opinion fits the gun shop stereotype to a T.
usualy a rude guy behind th ecounter, overpriced goods, and charges over 100$ for FFL transfers.
I preffer fletchers in waukesha or even shooter shop when i am in the milwaukee area.

I bought my Kimber 1911 there, my bolt rifle, and a few other things over the years.

They are strict as hell when it comes to selling in my experience.  If you are there with someone else, and they even think you SMELL like a straw buyer, you will get the nth degree.  A few years ago I saw some girl trying to buy a pistol for her boyfriend.  They were read the riot act by the old man and I think they called the PD in.

From what I have seen (I could be wrong) they try pretty hard to keep things on the up and up.  Also, like any other place, if you dress decently (as in, don't look like a punk or a hood), are polite, know WTF you are talking about, and have some sort of purchase history, the deals get better and so does the service.  If you are a wack job that just goes there to finger-fuck 10 pistols and never buys anything (even if it's just a pad of targets and some cleaning supplies or a box of ammo), don't expect the counter people to spend a lot of time on you....they are usually pretty busy trying to keep things on the level with the ghetto trash that frequents the place, watching home boy in the back to make sure he doesn't steal anything, etc.  They spend most of their time trying to figure out who are the bangers and the shady characters, and who are normal decent people.....and that's BEFORE moving on to trying to be friendly and helpful to those they should........who knows who is who on the floor on any given day.  It's got to be pretty tough.

what an idiot to go on record saying that stuff...by this time next year. hes going to feel the money pinch & sales so low, he wont be able to pay the property taxes...
Just boycott his store & tell your pals not to do business with him... he's going to have to learn the hard way, if your in the gun sales business DON'T  to piss off your client base, by siding with an anti gun state legislature, ( hes probably thinking he will make money off the new law )  the NRA should revoke his membership.

Ok fellas, I do have to admit I've only been down there once in the last few years.  It sounds like it is going downhill.

I did sit at the counter and discuss the whole straw man thing with them after they ejected someone.  They made a good point, that if someone comes in, wants to buy,. they are legal age, they pass the background check, and everything is on the up and up.....they can't really turn down a legal sale without solid evidence there is a straw purchase going on......although I've seen them do it.  Basically, a woman who passed the check, was accompanied by a banger who actually picked out the pistol.  When it came time to buy, they looked at each other and told the clerk "SHE'S buying it".  They denied the sale and Mick came out to ream their ass and educate them on the law.  I am pretty sure it didn't end there.  So I can tell you....those kind of situations Badger will NOT sell.  Carrying the thought further......what can they do when she comes back later, by herself, still checks out 100% legal, and with cash in hand?  Or even if a boyfriend is along.......if she actually picks out the gun, and buys it, how can you NOT sell?  You don't think there's some shyster lawyers in Milwaukee who would love to sue Badger because some poor disadvantaged woman was denied a perfectly legal purchase to "defend herself"?  Especially if she is a minority?  Oh yeah, they would be sued to high heaven.

I don't envy them at all.  They have treated me pretty well, but I am generally dressed as a professional when down there for work.  Don't forget, in their business they HAVE to try and size up their customers and make a fast judgement.  Not defending their treating anyone like crap, just pointing out the other side of the coin.

Mick and Wally go far out of their way to prevent straw purchases and help the police and the ATF in investigations. Every time somebody tries what seems to be a straw purchase, they get the license plate numbers, and call. They're very good about that.

From talking with gun store owners, I can guarantee you that most of them would like to see private sales banned, as well as gun shows. But few of them are so stupid as to say what Mick did.

For the life of me, I can't see the upside for Mick in doing this. All I can think is that the Mayor Barrett is somehow threatening to make Mick's life miserable if he doesn't cooperate.

Or maybe Mick and Wally finally have a solid buyer, and Mick doesn't care anymore.

I remember telling one of the employees there a few years ago that the guy buying the ammo at the counter was a recently released felon and they just shruged their shoulders.  I kick myself in the ass to this day for not contacting ATF because I knew the name of the felon, but I also hate going to court and testifying.
